“We did the 'Portraits of Southern France' in September last year. Our first time with Viking and definitely not the last! Stateroom was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space, with a huge picture window which we were able to open. Dining experience was great and being in France we had a lot of local produce. We found all the crew friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our cruise this year to Bordeaux.”

“In 2014 I had my first river cruise with Viking on the Danube, a very enjoyable trip. The crew were very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent, while it’s nice to try the local delicacies, it is nice to be able to select English/American dishes if you don’t fancy local. I am of an age (82) when walking is something of a problem so some of the excursions’ ashore were a bit of a loss, but I was well able to enjoy myself on-board or just going ashore for a short (very) hobble, even reached a bar for a very pleasant glass of wine. As a single traveller I found the open table sitting very pleasant, you are able to meet and talk with quite a large number of guests during the course of the holiday. It’s not a cheap holiday, but I enjoyed it so much that I’m going again this year, doing the Rhine this time. Cheers!”

“We enjoyed both Douro and Rhine Cruise in 2014 and are booked for France this year. We have and would not go with any other company than Viking. Have enjoyed previous 6 cruises and look forward to more”

“Portraits of France in 2011 was our first Viking river cruise.We enjoyed it so much we have booked the romantic Danube cruise in August 2015 for our golden wedding anniversary.We are looking forward to it immensely and I'm sure we won't be disappointed.We found everything about Viking was class from the cabins ,the food and the staff who couldn't do enough to make it a momento us holiday”

“We've been on quite a number of Viking river cruises and all have been superb. All the places we have visited have been interesting and the guides provided for the included tours have been excellent. The onboard staff have always been cheerful and co-operative. We enjoy being on deck as we meander from town to town, but the lounge and public areas are really comfortable for those who prefer to spend most of their time inside. Mustn't forget to mention the coffee machines and the wonderful variety of teas which are available 24/7 - just what one needs. Finally the food! It's always been absolutely superb and probably the best we've tasted anywhere in the world. And for us, having wine with lunch and dinner really puts the icing on the cake. We think that the money we've paid for these river cruises has been more than well spent. A pity that we're running out of rivers to travel along”

“My wife and I participated on a Viking cruise (Elbe) for the first time, The boats used are smaller than others in the fleet to allow navigation on the Elbe. This gave us opportunity to meet new friends, with whom we still keep touch! We had used other river cruise operators in the past that we thought were excellent. The Viking experience moved that up by another couple of notches! The only problem arising from our cruise were in the latter stages when river water levels were low and the boat couldn't complete it's schedule: not a Viking fault as the markers across the river clearly indicated no navigation beyond this point. We have booked another Viking cruise this year (Rhine from Switzerland to Amsterdam) so expecting to be completely satisfied again!”

“Our first experience of a river cruise was two years ago from Budapest through Austria, Germany and Holland was everything me hoped for and more . A fantastic holiday, and a small snippet of local cuisine and a truly memorable experience.”

“We had a superb cruise with Viking down the Danube. Everything was just perfect. So much so that we have booked our next 2 cruises, this year the River Elbe and next year on the cruise ship from Venice to Istanbul.”

“A very enjoyable and relaxing week sailing from Amsterdam to Basle. The daily briefings were very informative as were the onshore excursions lead by knowledgable local Guides. The accommodation in cabins was comfortable and clean, with picture window being great to be able to view outside locations and scenery. Food on board was plentiful and of a high standard, great to be given bottled water each time we set off on an excursion. We appreciated the opportunity to always have coffee, tea and snacks easily accessible. Staff were professional, approachable and friendly at all times. We felt the spoken suggestion in the farewell briefing of the tips we should be given unnecessary.”

“The Viking staff set themselves very high standards and consistently meet them. Our last cruise was the Grand European Tour and grand it was too. Inspired by the comfort of the ships, the attentiveness of the staff, the excellent shore excursions and of course the wonderful food, we never fail to enjoy ourselves enormously and always meet new friends in the process.”
