“Menards used to be my go to hardware store. I liked them better than Ace or Home Depot but I will no longer step foot into a Menards. I wish I could give them a lower rating since their customer service leaves much to be desired. I went to purchase supplies to repair an issue. I walked back to the building department and waited forever for the single employee to finish a conversation about windows. It didn’t help that traffic and road construction had doubled the time it usually takes to get to my closest Menards and that I was on a clock since I needed to get to work immediately after and was now running late. I patently waited. When he finally finished the call, he finally turned his attention to me. I explained what I needed to do and stated I was in a hurry. He took me to the area where the supplies were and started to explain things when his phone rang again. Rather than ignore it, or answer and say he was with a customer. He took the call and I again had to wait. He finally finished. I stated I’m here, I’m in front of you wanting to give the store money, I’m in a hurry and you are making me wait for someone that might not even come into the store or give you any money. He replied he had to answer the phone. I replied he could have told them he was with a customer and hold one. I asked if he would now help me so I can get to work. He told me “NO”.
While I’m sure I’m not Menards biggest or one of their top customers, I have purchased many supplies there, 55 bags of mulch yearly, my grill and my sofa among other things but If that’s the level of service they give their customers standing in front of them, I will never step foot in a Menards store again or give them any of my money. I’ve already used this story as a teaching moment to inform my staff the pitfalls of bad service to the customer standing in front of you.”

“1 I had never been to Menard's -
2 I asked a man that was at a desk working on a computer if I could get some help in the garden center, his response I'm not even on the clock! And turned away from me-
3 Lovely! (His response)
4 I see a young gal walking towards me, she had this huge grin on her face, warm and welcoming, pushing/pulling a huge ladder - I asked do you work her she stated I work in the garden center (she was up by the registers)
5 Perfect! I'm looking....
She said I would be happy to help!
6 she was a pure delight, in a world that seems to entitled-
7 her name is Dawn hoping she gets plenty of recognition for her kindness

“They need to stop posting final price after rebate when you get no money back after the "rebate"
Menard's advertises products with a before and after price with the rebates. After looking at the fine print you save no money and the final price is a lie. You get no money back after the rebate, but instead get store credit.”
“I returned some water based paint I had never opened and received in store credit. When I tried to use the in store credit one week later I was informed it had been cancelled. I was told that it appeared to have water in it. My water based paint appeared to have water in it. They would not give my a refund and the employee who checked it herself even stated it could have been expired. I asked to see the jug myself and they told me it had already been sent off to corporate and if I had issues with the decision to discuss it with them directly. The customer service I received was absolutely horrendous.”
