“I have recently got this addition halo light to my Deros, so far u have used it to help sand some Macassar ebony veneers for a large project and also some smaller resin pieces, it has helped to identify defects i would have struggled to see in my workshop lighting. Overall it's paid for itself in the first few jobs to identify small blemishes/issues, I also have the 90° sanding aid which helps massively when sanding the edges of pieces to make sure i keep the sander at 90°”
“Dan at Iluka tools was very helpful in providing an updated model of the Mirka deros edge sanding guide, when our original one broke on the hinge mechanism.
The new model is much stronger, and allows us to keep a nice crisp edge when sanding dining room tables.
Swift responses and delivery, Thank you’”
“Great product! I love using my edge sanders with my Mirka ROS. Wonderful service as well, very quick to response. I would recommend Iluka Tools anytime!”
“I contacted Luka tools via facebook to purchase a zero clearance insert for my festool kapex 120 mitre saw , had a reply in minutes with a link to his page , very easy to order and within a day or 2 received it, on opening it I was surprised to find 2 in the package which was great to have a spare , it makes lining up cuts so much easier also any small slithers don’t fall into the saw”
“Hello,
I would like to recommend you a great 90 degree or even 45 degree handle for grinding edges for any eccentric sander from Makita to Mirka from a small company in England called Iluca Tools and write a review about it, since probably most people don't even know that something it also exists.
I specifically ordered this 90 st. the handle in the photos for the strongest, heaviest and therefore somewhat atypical sander Festool Rotex 150, for which in the original Festool shop 90 st. the edge sanding handle does not even produce. Not that I want to buy it just because of the lower price than the original Festool, but because of the fact that you can't even get it anywhere else. We will discuss the specific details of this sander with a handle at the end. So I took a risk and bought it from an English company that I didn't even know about until then.
I will summarize my experience in 3 points. Let's look at the construction first.
Dan, the owner of the small company Iluca Tools in England, makes these grinder handles on his 3D printer and designs them himself. For the fact that it is from a 3D printer, to my surprise it fit very precisely on the grinder, the grip strength is excellent and after tightening the two screws on each side of the grinder, the handle does not even move, it holds the angle perfectly and the material is also very hard. that I don't think it will crack even if it falls to the ground. There are some cosmetic flaws, but that's normal for any 3D printer product. It doesn't affect the functionality, it just looks like 3D printing. Nothing can be done about it.
In terms of functionality, I grind very well with it and the angle on the ground edge is a perfect 90 degrees. The handle slides along the edge and does not make marks even on a finely polished surface, because it has a synthetic fabric attached to the side with velcro, which can be replaced (a spare one was included in the package). Before I started using this handle, I always had a problem maintaining a 90 degree angle on small edges of 1.8 cm - up to 3 cm and it didn't look pretty. Now it's a piece of cake!
As for the price, it is certainly less than it would cost on the original pages from the store, even though original handles are not even made for some grinders. But the price is not that low, because after converting some 80 euros, you have to pay another 20 euros at the post office for customs from England, so to sum it up, for not that much money you get a super high-quality and personalized product that maybe you won't find it anywhere else.
Now I will return to my atypical, heavy and powerful sander Festool Rotex 150, for which I ordered a handle and the problem I had with this particular sander. This grinder is so heavy that it grinds a 90 degree angle only when the handle on it has a bit more than a 90 degree angle. It's strange and I didn't know it, so I was quite surprised from the beginning (also because Dan, the owner, didn't write it anywhere on his website) and as soon as the handle arrived in the mail I wrote him a scared email that "the handle doesn't have exactly 90 degrees and it's slightly off" . It was great that Dan wrote back right away even though it was 10pm and explained that it was supposed to be because of the heavy weight of the sander and that it would grind 90 degrees even though the shaft is not exactly 90 degrees, so I tried it and found that he was right and it was grinding exactly 90 degrees.
Despite that, I still wanted to test how it would grind when the handle was at exactly 90 degrees, so I asked Dan that I would need a new handle and I would convert the old one to exactly 90 degrees, if he would send me a new one. Dan sent me a new handle for free with no problems and now I have two at home for use, one with exactly 90 degrees for horizontal sanding and the other slightly over 90 for vertical sanding. I know it's science, but believe me, it's true. We also discussed it with Dan and he confirmed to me that this particular grinder has no other solution than this. But this is only the case with this particular Festool Rotex 150 sander and no other sander on the market has this in my opinion. Anyway, it's probably a tribute to quality from Festool...
So that's my experience. When you have a grinder, whether Festool or Bosch, Makita, Mirka, Dewalt, Metabo, etc. so don't hesitate to order a handle for grinding precise edges from Iluca Tools. It's worth it!”
“Recently purchased the edge sanding attachment for my Festool RO 125 sander. So thankful for the availability and perfect fit of this attachment. It makes edge sanding much easier and is a real time-saver. Highly recommend this game-changing tool.”
“This attachment makes sanding 90º not only quicker but far more accurate. It works as described and has become a shop favorite. We primarily use it for sanding the edges of cabinet doors.
I had a little issue with the first one but Dan was quick to respond and remedy the problem. These folks stand behind their products which is awesome.”
“Iluka's 90 degree Festool sanding attachment has been a huge help with production work. Very accurate and easy to attach & remove! When the quick release clasp finally failed (after much use), Dan was very prompt in offering a free replacement. Cannot fault that customer service, was much appreciated.”
“Great tool ! It helps a lot and it fits very well on my Festool sander. And the customer service is awesome !!! Great communication. I recommend it for sure !!!”
“We purchased a Metabo/Mirka 150mm Edge Sanding adaptor from these guys in October, which was brilliant. Eventually our adaptor failed which seemed to be a design fault or our fault we didn't know and we thought it was a lost cause. We sent a message to Dan at Iluka notifying him as to the failure and they replaced the item immediately and free of charge. Not only that but they've improved significantly on the design solving the previous issue. I don't foresee any problems with the new adaptor.”
“I got the 90 degree sanding attachment for my ETS EC 125 that I run with a 150mm pad. The product works great. Perfect 90 degree edges. Easy to install and take off, easy to use.”
“Superb product well happy and far exceeded my expectations. Some insta videos coming soon on some awesome builds so I’ll make sure to tag you in 👊
Love it. Thank you”
