I bought a very basic 3D Printer several years ago and have used it to make parts for my own use, for my wife's hobbies, and a large number of parts to assist a friend who has started a home business that is going well enough it has been his full time occupation for the past couple of years. I got involved because of my electrical engineering background was used to get one of the first product prototypes working, and we've made several upgrades since then. But cranking out "things people want to buy at a highly profitable price" isn't my goal for my retirement years. Just doing useful things for others and my own needs is plenty.
