• Phuket: Kalima
(IN REALITY WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL ROUGHLY AROUND 8AM AND HAD TO WAIT IN THE FOYER UNTIL 6PM FOR OUR ROOM, AND HOTEL WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE ON A DANGEROUS ROAD WITH NO FOOTPATHS TO EVEN VENTURE OUT) We were not allowed to use the facilities until we
Be prepared to get up early for this trip as we got no rest time. As the guides pick you up between 7-8am every morning. After such long flights 15 hours in total from the UK to Thailand, if like us you had a lousy flight, due to a poor baby with an ear infection screaming the whole flight from Qatar to Thailand. We had chronic jet lag. So to finally get into our room and then have an early start immediately the next morning was not relaxing at all.
• Krabi: Peace Laguna Resort & Spa (Again wake up call and trips were at 8am set off time)
• Khao Sok: Our Jungle House in Khaosok (treehouse or bungalow)
1:) WE ARRIVED AND THE HOTEL WAS NOT EXPECTING US, AND WERE FULLY BOOKED. SO WE WERE KEPT WAITING IN THE RECEPTION AREA FOR ALMOST (2 HOURS) AND FINALLY WERE ALLOCATED A HOTEL 20 MINUTE DRIVE AWAY. WE WERE KEPT WAITING IN THE RECEPTION AREA FOR 90 MINUTES BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE A ROOM FOR US. AND WHEN WE DID GET THE ROOM, IT WAS INCORRECT AND WE LEFT STANDING AROUND FOR 45 MINUTES IN THE RAIN. AND WHEN WE DID GET OUR ROOM AT 3 PM WE WERE TOLD TO BE READY FOR 4 PM FOR OUR FIRST EXCURSION. AND THEN WHEN WE GOT BACK, WE TOLD WE THEN HAD TO BE READY FOR 7 PM FOR OUR NIGHT TIME JUNGLE SAFARI . WHICH WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE WAS GOING TO BE IN THE DAYLIGHT, SO WE DIDN’T REALLY GET TO SEE MUCH. SO A PRETTY POINTLESS EXCURSION THAT WAS PAID FOR.
2:) WE HAD AN ISSUE IN THE HOTEL ROOM, WHERE THERE WAS A LARGE HORNET THAT WE COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE ROOM THAT WAS ATTACKING US, SO WE HAD TO LEAVE THE ROOM AT MIDNIGHT, WHICH WE ARE WELL AWARE, YOU DO EXPECT TO HAVE SOME BUGS AND INSECTS WHEN YOU GO TO SOMEWHERE LIKE THAILAND. AND WE COULDN'T HAVE BREAKFAST BECAUSE OF A SWARM OF WASPS ALL OVER THE FOOD. AND, UNLIKE THE VOYAGE PRIVE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I HAVE BEEN SPEAKING TO SINCE WE HAVE COME BACK FROM OUR TRIP, WHO I MIGHT ADD IS THE MOST PATRONIZING AND ARROGANT PERSON I’VE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH, OF THE NAME OF JENNIFER!! TELLING ME THAT YOU DO EXPECT TO SEE BUGS WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING TO SOMEWHERE LIKE THAILAND, I’M NOT STUPID I AM WELL TRAVELED. AND I’M CERTAINLY NOT SQUEAMISH. I DON’T EXPECT TO BE SPOKEN DOWN TO LIKE I’M A CHILD, WHEN I’M TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO SOMEONE THAT WORKS FOR VOYAGE PRIVE THAT WHAT SHOULD’VE BEEN A LUXURY HOLIDAY, TURNED OUT TO BE A NIGHTMARE AND OVER SIX GRAND LIGHTER.
• Khao Lak: The Kalima Resort & Villas Khao Lak
1:) WE Arrived at this hotel after a very long day, traveling, from the excursion, and then travelling yet again, in total seven hours. When we arrived at the hotel reception, we were checked in and greeted by the staff, and they told us to enjoy our relaxation time. At this point, we were absolutely shattered because we hadn’t slept for days, because the itinerary was so jam packed, as up until this point there was no time whatsoever to relax! We were shunted from pillar to post. And was looking forward to a lay in the following day.
2:) We were woken up the next morning at 6:50 AM saying that our driver was here for our excursion. At no point was we told by anyone or any notes left that we were going on an excursion the following day. The hotel manager came up to our hotel room, and I had to WhatsApp All the details of our itinerary, whilst the driver was having a full-blown argument with us on the phone, and was threatening and intimidating, and had my daughter in tears, finally, the driver left, as there was no way I was going to spend a day with a male individual that had used (Threatening behavior as we did not feel safe. So we missed out on a trip that we did not know we were supposed to going on the next day.
I explained this to Jennifer from Voyage Prive, and her response was, it was our fault we should’ve asked! At what point is it my job as the paying Customer on a luxury holiday have to do the running around finding out when and where my itinerary is, that’s the whole point of me spending thousands of pounds with a company that pride themselves on saying they take away all the work. We just enjoy the trip. An Absolute joke, and yet again PATRONISING!
3:) DAY WE WERE DUE TO FLY BACK, YET AGAIN WE WERE WOKEN AT 4.50AM BY THE DRIVER TO TAKE US TO THE AIRPORT AND HAD EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE OF AN ARGUING DRIVER. And the hotel manager had to show him our proof of flights that were at 8.30pm as our transfer was supposed to be at 4.30pm. Even then they didn’t turn up and the hotel had an argument with the tour operator for Khoa Lak and it turned up an hour late.
To add insult to injury they offered £58 compensation begrudgingly.
