I have my rack built with the extension and not bolted down. It doesn’t move whatsoever and is very solid. Not sure how it would be without the extension, but recommend as a quality rack. Beware that the short rack is low enough you can’t do overhead presses in the rack, not a big deal you can just do them outside… but still
