Good strong aroma of juniper with floral dark chocolate notes. On biting, much firmer than the milk and a longer melt. On tasting, lime hit me first, but only just very faintly. Then bitter notes from dark chocolate. Some grassy notes. Juniper next….The juniper is strong with this one so it is!! It reminds me of pink peppercorns but with less spice. If you like G&T you’ll recognise this… that bite at the end of the tonic… its there (though not a dash of quinine in sight). A while longer, yellow fruits, a little more spice and a faint dash of tobacco. Did I just taste a bit of pineapple? There’s flavour here, but you have to persist a little. Definitely not one for scoffing quickly. A bit more of an oddity… but in a good way. Its the kind of bar you remember clearly as its just so different to anything else you might have tried before. Its also (when you allow yourself to taste it properly) reasonably complex. Its a firm bite, strong on flavour and lingers a while after you’ve tucked in. I say tucked in, but actually you can’t. It demands you enjoy it like you’d enjoy a G&T. Down it at your peril, but savour it at your pleasure. Little and often is the way with this bar! Not a bar Id want every day, but if I was opting for a present that somebody would remember, I’d probably include this in a selection. If I wanted something occasionally to remind me of how varied chocolate can be, well… I just might!
