This is a basic and slim sleeve, but probably all you need to protect your paddle from scratches and dings while in transit. I wanted something that wasn't too bulky because I carry my gear around in a backpack, so this was perfect. The volume that it adds to my backpack while installed is negligible. I keep multiple paddles in my backpack, and I started noticing that they were getting a little scratched up against each other. My solution was to order a protective sleeve for my best paddle. This one looks like it's designed to accommodate most standard paddle sizes. Fit doesn't have to be super precise, because this sleeve does not cover the handle anyway. Material is neoprene, looks and feels top notch and durable while taking up as little space as possible. Fabric had a slight chemical smell when new but is already getting better after airing out for a while. I don't see any official manufacturer recommendations on washing, but I would probably recommend hand washing. I would be concerned that machine washing might cause this sleeve to lose the original structure and make it look worn.
