“I'ts complicated, learning how to access all the functions. Glad I bought a touch screen model as using only the buttons would have been very difficult. Need to keep the manual with you all the time to work out how to use it. The map scrolling is slow - if you move the map, it takes time toupdate the display. They have packed so much detail into the maps it takes time to unpack it for display. Having trouble displaying more than one course, correctly on the screen - not sure what's going wrong.”
“The 840 replaces my failing 510. Very happy with the 840. Battery life is good (which I was worried about coming from a B/W screen). Easy to read on the bike (except in shadow, but I could turn the brightness up I guess). Compatible with my SRAM AXS (which the 510 was not). More stats and directions with Climb8 Pro, which I'm still getting my head around, but shows potential. Good navigation, and my instigate me leaving Ride With GPS (which is a shame, as the developers are really good and active)”
“Battery life is excellent, I've got mine to about 10hrs now with full brightness of the screen - that's enough for me. The vvariety of screens available is excellent and I've taken a few weeks to tweak the screens how I want - GPLama's YT videos were most helpful there. I'm reducing by one star because I wish I bought the 1040 or 1050 (although I would never have paid that price!) because some more screen real-estate would be helpful with my fading eyesight - that's a me thing so possibly unfair on the 840. I reckon its the sweet spot of price and capabilities, and the integrration with Garmin Connect is outstanding. Cheers Sean”
