“Maybe because I'm used to the older interface of my Edge 1000 computer, it is taking a little bit of time to learn how to use the new device for setting a navigation destination. It also thows climb stat screens at me on approach without me otherwise navigating to such a metric. Maybe something I've set without realising.
Was really handy that it was able to import most of my screens and activities from my Edge 1000 saving me a bit of setup time.
The battery life is great and it's accuracy for where I am (especially in the bush during a MTB ride) is phenominal.”
“Device is wonderful and so much more powerful than a 530 model that I've used for thirteen years.
BUT, startup manual is far too brief and online manual is not organised to support new owners.”
“Easy to use, with the choice of buttons if the touch screen doesn't work, especially during rain. Hopefully the screen won't become detached like my old 830.”
“my 830 got a crack in the screen and wanted a replacement. garmin offered me a good price for a refurbished model but luckily i bought a new 840, significant upgrade from the 830. would recommend depiste it sounding the same on the face of it. largely software related with some minor hardware enhancements, but 840 is significantly better than the 830.”
“Have only used my Garmin 840 a few times so far. Happy with the battery life with is why I got this over the 850. Which had poor reviews on that feature.
It does everything I need it to do. Will test more on my next bikepacking trip.”
