Good upgrade over my old Edge 1000. Screen is small but functional. Device feels quite light and buttons seem a bit smushy. I recommend buying a cheap case. Upgrading maps is painful, but easy enough to do via the computer. Very customizable with lots of ride data. Route calculation is average. Great device if your primary use case is data analysis and metrics, with mapping more secondary. Worth getting the touchscreen. Battery life is fantastic and it is sufficently fast. Make sure to delete maps from regions you don't want to free up internal space. Worth saving some money with the 840 rather than the 850.

Upgraded from the 540 and I have absolutely no regrets. The display is more legible and range of information displayed is very comprehensive. It even lets you report on matters like hazards, road closures etc.

Love it. Don’t know how I ever rode without one!
