“I did a ton of research into replacing an aging Haworth Improv SE that just didn't have the cushion it once did. I was also using a KI Altus task chair I used at the office, which wasn't super customizable but was solid once I settled on the right position. So I didn't come from cheap chairs. that being said, there has still been some adjustment with the Amia, especially in the seat style and the way it reclines via tension when not locked upright. But I did adapt and I am happy with the chair. It's heavy, it's solid, I can recline as much as I want, and aside from having to affix the back to the base, I would think it was brand new. Good deal, excellent refurbishment, I am very happy with the chair. The only possible drawback is in a warm environment (I'm in a basement that is always cooler), the lack of breathability might be a bit warm for some.”
“I was a little hesitant to buy a refurbished chair at first, but after doing some research and looking at reviews, I decided to get it. The chair was in amazing condition with some very minor scratches that you have to really look for to find. Im addition, the BTOD customer support is outstanding if you have any questions or issues with the chair. As far as the chair itself goes, its the most comfortable chair I've sat it. I have seen some people complain about the seat pad being to stiff, but I'm not sure what they are talking about. It is not stiff at all. Overall I absolutely recommend this chair from BTOD. If you are like me and newer to chairs but want to dip your foot in a high quality chair without the price tag, this is the way to go.”
“I don't know if it's just me, but I am finding it extremely hard go find a chair that is comfortable for a full 8 hour day. The Steelcase Leap caused terrible coccyx pain. The Herman Miller Aeron was too stiff and narrow in the seat.
The Amia is proving to be the best of the bunch so far. The seat is firm but comfortable (no coccyx pain!!!!) the back is flexible enough to allow good mobility, but supportive enough to allow long hours of sitting. I did as btod recommended and tightened the tilt to max, and I never have to lock it. It is just about perfect!
I am so happy that I found btod because paying retail price for any of these chairs would seriously irritate me. I think it is absurd that these companies get away with charging as much as they do.”
“This is the first refurbished chair I have ever purchased. The Amia replaced a 20 year old office chair. I have nothing to compare the Amia to. The buying experience was fine. The seat is very firm. I have no idea what a new Amia feels like. The controls work fine. Overall the chair looks fine for being refurbished. My main complaint is how the chair was packaged. The only protection was some bunched up brown paper in the bottom of the box. The back was in a plastic bag sitting on the seat. The seat base of the chair was also wrapped in some plastic. No other protection was included inside the box. The top and bottom of the shipping box were secured with one piece of shipping tape each. The box was damaged during shipping. I have included 2 photos to show the damage. Because of the damage to the box, the right arm rest was exposed. The right arm rest seems to be looser than the left arm rest. Next time, I will probably save up my money and purchase a new chair directly from Steelcase.”
“Excellent chair, especially for being refurbished. Delivery took a bit but absolutely worth it. It's adjustability and comfort make it easy to work and game for long hours.”
