Refurbished Steelcase Amia by BTOD, Black Frame Reviews

4.6 Rating 236 Reviews
Fabulously well-constructed chair and refurbishing are very good from BTOD, strong and aggressive backrest (a little more than my taste), great seat depth adjustment, and very well-refurbished seat, but a little too firm for my needs. Certainly, if you can be comfortable with it, can last 12 years (and has a warranty from BTOD for that. The armrests are a little wiggly, everything works great.

I'm not a chair expert. I added some new casters to this chair and it's been great overall. No complaints.

The chair is in mostly-good condition! One of the screw holes for attaching the backrest was misaligned, so I was unable to get one of the screws in. Other than that, the chair is extremely comfortable!

The chair arrived in good quality and build. It is very comfortable and has all the features I expected. The casters are a little bit flimsy as I'm not a heavy person (~130 lbs) and they already warp a little under load. The main reason why it's 4 stars out of 5 is because it did come with small damages, mostly inconsequential as they aren't functional damages. This could had been avoided if it had some packaging foam or cardboard to prevent shipping damage. Overall I'd still recommend this chair as the refurbishing job was really well done.

I was using a cheap IKEA chair for years and I didn't realize how much it was hurting my back. I was moving and in the process, I wanted to start fresh and I thought getting a new chair would help because I spend most of my time sitting at my computer. I didn't know much about office chairs so I went down the YouTube rabbit hole and found the BTOD channel. Based on their recommendations, I decided to go with the Steelcase Amia chair. After seeing how much a new Amia chair would cost, I decided to purchase a refurbished one instead. I was very hesitant because I always buy products new because you never know what you're going to get when it comes to the second hand market. After watching their video on the process of refurbishing chairs, my mind was put at ease. Ordering was simple and easy and I like how they gave you options to save or spend a little more money. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of time it took for me to receive the chair. It took over three weeks but it was around the holidays and I'm not a very patient person. When I received the chair, it was very simple to put together. I carefully examined the chair and it was basically brand new. I don't think you could tell it was a refurbished chair. I'm so glad I decided to buy the refurbished model instead of spending basically double on a new one. I cannot recommend BTOD enough. It was a great investment that I'll get many years of enjoyment out of.

Overall the chair feels great and a definite upgrade to my Maxnomic which I ended up using for around 6 years...Much more ergonomic and fit for my body type. Only downside was the process took a month or so and you won't know which year the refurb was manufactured

It's a hit for my wife! Our previous chair wasn't supportive enough and she ended up taking her laptop to work on the couch quite often. Now she is much more comfortable at the desk and her posture is already benefitting! The seat quality seems very good. Only a few things stood out to me though all are truly non-issues. The cylinder extend rate was set quite fast so you need to have pressure on the seat to keep it from firing up or extending jaggedly. One of the 5 wheels is never touching. We'll be moving the desk from an old wooden floor to a newer carpeted floor so that could go away completely.
