This class is specially designed for complete beginners. No experience needed — just bring your curiosity and appetite.

What You’ll Experience

We begin with a short and engaging introduction covering:

• The history of sushi
• The difference between traditional and modern sushi
• Why Maki is the original form of sushi

Then it’s time to get hands-on.

You’ll learn step-by-step how to create perfectly shaped, beautifully presented sushi rolls with guidance from our experienced chef-tutors.

We keep classes small, so you’ll receive personal attention and plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Weekday bookings are often quieter, giving you an even more private experience.

During the class you will learn how to:

• Understand and season sushi rice properly
• Roll and shape sushi confidently
• Make a classic California Roll (vegetarian option available)
• Make a Tempura Prawn Maki (vegetarian option available)
• Plate and present your sushi beautifully

Please note: The rice is pre-cooked for the main session. If you’d like to learn how to cook it from scratch, you can select this as an add-on.

By the end of the class, you’ll feel confident recreating sushi at home — and proud of your professional-looking results.

Take your sushi adventure to the next level! Our beginner sushi class is designed to give you a solid foundation in making perfect Maki rolls, but why stop there? Treat yourself with our exciting add-ons — learn new skills, enjoy delicious drinks, and make the class even more memorable.

1. Sushi Rice Mastery (Extra 30–40 min)
Want to learn the secret behind restaurant-quality sushi rice? Get hands-on with cooking, seasoning, and perfecting your rice for Maki rolls. A must for rice perfectionists! Please arrive 30 minutes earlier than the starting time.

2. Tempura Prawn & Vegetable Add-On (Extra 30 min)
Get a taste of deep-fried delight! Learn how to make tempura from fresh prawns and vegetables — perfect to serve alongside your sushi rolls. Optional vegetarian versions available. Warning: may lead to serious cravings.

3. Mini Sashimi Class (Extra 45 min)
Feeling adventurous? Learn to handle raw salmon safely and wrap it into your sushi creations. Book at least 3 days in advance. This add-on brings your sushi skills closer to pro level — minus the sushi chef hat (unless you bring your own!).

4. Knife Sharpening Workshop (Extra 30 min)
Bring your kitchen knife and learn professional sharpening techniques. You’ll slice like a sushi master and impress your friends at dinner parties. Safety first!

5. Chef’s Special Drinks Pairing

Signature Bubble Cocktails: Enjoy a refreshing chef-curated cocktail while making sushi.

Sake Tasting: End the class with a mini sake tasting session to pair with your creations.

6. Private Class Experience
Book on a quiet weekday and enjoy more one-on-one time with your tutor. Perfect for friends, couples, or those who like to boss their sushi chef around (gently, of course!).

By combining add-ons, you save time and maximize fun. Each extra activity adds depth to your sushi experience, perfect for birthdays, foodie adventures, or impressing that special someone.

• No raw fish is used unless you select the sashimi add-on
• Vegetarian options available
• Gluten-free soy sauce available (tempura cannot be gluten-free)
• Some ingredients may contain sesame, egg, mustard, soy or crustaceans

• Price is per person. Each attendee must hold a valid ticket.

• Class duration is an estimate and may vary depending on group size.
No Refund Policy
All bookings are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to another adult (18+). Please notify us in advance with the new attendee’s name.
Rescheduling
If you need to reschedule your booking, a £50 fee per person applies. Reschedule requests must be made at least 7 days before your scheduled class date.
Arrival & Punctuality
Classes begin promptly. A 15-minute grace period is provided. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, we may not be able to admit you and your booking will be forfeited.
We appreciate your understanding, as our small-group classes require advance preparation and planning.
Health & Safety Policy
- For the safety of all guests and in line with UK food hygiene guidance, anyone experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, or similar symptoms must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours before attending the class
- Guests may be asked to confirm this upon arrival
- We reserve the right to refuse entry if this requirement is not met

This was a throughly enjoyable experience! I bought this as a birthday experience for my partner and it was an absolute blast! Hanna and Simon were so friendly and not only made sushi making fun, but also interesting as they were able to answer any questions we had in great detail, as well as drop some fun facts along the way. Really good time and would highly recommend! We'll be back for more classes in the future!

We learnt lots about the history of sushi and why it's called maki and the changes and transformations along the years. Ahhh, and we learnt about wasabi too. Hannah and Simon showed us how to make the perfect sushi and the technique with the knife to cut it perfectly. They answered all our questions and were very involved with us, making sure we learn the basics. Coctels were delicious. Eating our own self-made sushi was quite a big experience. Best birthday present to my partner. Now, we need to move to the advanced class ☺️☺️☺️
