Matcha ritual (30 mins)
Kick off with ceremonial grade matcha. You'll get a short introduction to what separates great matcha from the rest -- colour, texture, taste -- before learning to make a proper matcha latte yourself. Then whisk up your own to sip while you get your hands into the clay.

Matcha bowl making (90 mins)
Into the studio, where you'll hand-build your own chawan (matcha bowl) from scratch. Expert instructors guide you through shaping, smoothing and personalising your piece with hand-painted designs, using premium clay and professional tools in our calm, prepared studio.

The finishing touch
Your bowl is professionally glazed and fired after the workshop -- food-safe and ready to use. Collect it in around 4-5 weeks, free of charge, or have it shipped anywhere in the UK for £8.

“This was an interesting class. It was nice to start with Matcha tasting with Kai and then proceeding to make the matcha bowl. Jude is on hand to guide/ help you so that is useful for first-timers with clay. You don't use a potter's wheel so less complex as I understand as well. One point of improvement is to have more time to shape and design the matcha bowl. It felt a bit rushed to shape, and design (paint) the bowl in an hour. Here is a photo of my bowl pre glazing. It takes 16 days before its ready to be collected after glazing so fingers crossed for the final look. Overall, nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.”

“The class was amazing! A great activity for the day. I also really enjoyed getting a brief history into Matcha and learning about the quality. Our teachers were excellent and really lovely! Highly recommend. Making our own bowls was also really fun and they did such a good job teaching us and were so helpful!”

“We had really patient and supportive teachers! We got to taste 3 different brands of matcha from 3 different regions. We learnt briefly about the history of matcha and also got to make our own matcha drinks before making our bowls. The support and the team was strong and constant throughout. Even with the painting, we were never rushed and supported heavily. The people who attended were also great and everyone was friendly! 10/10 would defo recommend and I'd love to come back and try another experience!”
