Beginner's Kintsugi Workshop Reviews

5 Rating 231 Reviews
We joined the Japanese Kintsugi class yesterday and it was such a memorable experience. It was actually my second date, and it turned out to be the perfect activity since both of us are very interested in Japan and its culture. The workshop was beginner-friendly, easy to follow, and very hands-on. Both Akki and Hisae were incredibly helpful, welcoming, and showed great patience, which made us feel comfortable right from the start. Their guidance and clear explanations gave us the confidence to complete the course successfully and safely. What we loved most was not just the practical side of learning Kintsugi, but also the philosophy behind it — to embrace imperfection, to accept reality and the past, and to see uniqueness in everything. That meaning really stayed with us and made the whole experience even more special. It was a wonderful way to spend quality time together, and the best part is that we were able to take home our own piece as a keepsake. I’d highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a unique, meaningful, and truly enjoyable experience. Thank you!!

We loved our Kintsugi class with Jun and Hitomi! Jun was a very patient and hands-on teacher who shared personal experiences and stories to help our learning. I found it very touching to hear the philosophy of the art, not just the physical crafting. Through this process, I learnt that my partner had intense attention to detail, and very fine skills. He crafted beautifully, taking time to breathe and apply the new Kintsugi skill and techniques. I am happy to say that I can relax and break more bowls and plates at home because we can repair them beautifully and uniquely now. Thank you Jun and Hitomi! We loved the class with you!

Jun and his wife made the small-group workshop feel very cosy and welcoming. I enjoyed learning about the origin and history behind Kintsugi. Each step of the process was explained thoroughly, and with care. I was truly immersed by Japanese culture and loved hearing the teacher's lived experiences through stories about career, overcoming personal struggles and embracing imperfections. I'm so glad my friends gifted me a ClassBento gift card for my birthday as they made it super easy to book myself into this class. What a treat!

I love the philosophy behind Kintsugi and I’m so grateful to get the opportunity to give it a try in this class. Jun San was a wonderful and patient teacher. The timing is perfect for the class. We moved quickly but were not rushed. Small class size meant we all got the attention we needed to ensure an excellent outcome.
