“Chiara and Calvin were amazing instructors. Patient, generous with their knowledge and time, and overall excellent humans. I bought this class as a present for my husband's birthday and we both had a fabulous time.”
“Another great class on offer from Class Bento.
Easy to find studio and very welcoming teachers. Enjoyable class, sharing basic techniques for beginners.
Only feedback for improvement was that the class size was quite large and the teacher spoke very softly, making it difficult for the people positioned to the back to hear the instructions.”
“It was an amazing experience I got this workshop as a birthday gift and it turned out to be the best birthday gift I ever received so far!
The place is so cosy and neat, our instructor was so helpful and took us through the process step by step, I really enjoyed it and the final result was great!”
“I recently attended a beginner bonsai class simply out of interest and a desire to try something hands-on and peaceful. There was no particular occasion, just a wish to slow down and learn something new and this class delivered that beautifully.
We covered the basics of bonsai care, including tree selection, pruning, wiring techniques, soil composition, and potting. It was a great mix of instruction and practice, and we each got to begin shaping our own tree to take home. The process was surprisingly meditative, and I left feeling both calmer and more curious.
Our teacher was excellent, experienced, knowledgeable about bonsai, and very approachable. Gavin explained everything clearly and created a relaxed, open learning environment where everyone felt welcome to ask questions or try things out.
The venue was bright and calming, with natural light and a studio-like feel. All the materials were prepared and laid out thoughtfully, and we had access to a variety of tools and trees. That said, I do have two small suggestions for improvement:
There were no paper towels in the bathroom, and since we were working with dirt, it would have been helpful for handwashing.
A raised platform or stand would have made it easier to trim and wire the trees at eye level, which would be especially useful for tasks requiring precision.
What I enjoyed most was how immersive the experience was. Working with the tree required full attention and a calm, steady hand. It was not just a class, but a small act of mindfulness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone curious about bonsai or looking to try something gently creative and grounding.”
