Feb 4 - 12, 2026 | February is a fine time to be in south Texas. Join us on our South Texas birding tour as we look for Whooping Cranes, and southern Texas specialties, found nowhere else in the US. We will visit excellent reserves and birding areas. This tour offers wonderful and often easy birding!

“The tour guides were great. The weather for most of our trip was mostly rainy and cold (e.g., frequently 35 to 45 degrees F. ) The visors in our van were very sticky such that when the driver tried to pull it down to shade out the sun, it pulled out of the roof, cut the driver's bottom lip. Luckily. the other tour guide was able to screw it back into the roof with a 'swiss army knife'. The vans we had were a big improvement on the vans we had on our Lake Eric bird tour 2 years ago. In Corpus Cristy no cabs were to be had. Since nobody in the airport was interested in providing a cab phone number, I finally found one myself which took another 30 to 40 minutes to arrive.”

Thank you very much for your informative review, Stan. We are so glad that your enjoyed the guides on the South Texas tour. While we can't do much about the weather, we do appreciate your feedback about the vehicle and transportation from the Corpus Christi airport. From our experience airport shuttles are not a common amenity offered by the hotels in Corpus Christi leaving taxis and Uber as our main resources for transportation. We will look at ways to make local taxi contact information more accessible for future tours. Thanks again for sharing your feedback which helps us to continue to deliver great experiences. “South Texas was a birding trip of a lifetime for me. I especially loved the boat trip to see the Whooping Cranes. Guides Kyle and Alyssa were exceptional! Such expert birders and they worked so hard to find us the birds, in very challenging weather. So many lifers, thank you!”

“Our guides, Kyle & Alyssa were outstanding in their capacities as excellent bird guides and respectful tour guides both. They were challenged by unusually cold and rainy conditions throughout the week and consistently made wise decisions in adapting the itinerary for optimal birding experiences everyday. “The guides, Skye & Kyle, were excellent. They were very enthusiastic & made certain that everyone saw each new bird. They had a great sense of humor & worked well as a team. “Our tour of South Texas was excellent. We visited several different environments where we were able to see many different species of birds plus some other animals. The weather was variable, very hot for a couple days and cold on other ones. The colder weather was actually better for birdwatching. Our guides were both pleasant and very knowledgeable.”
