“This works well. I used this to make my first batch of kombucha, using their recipe. The result is exactly as expected. The Scoby does resemble the thing that attacked Spock on Star Trek, but makes darn good kombucha.”

“Did not work this time. The starter tea and SCOBY did not work this time for a gallon brew. Second purchase of this product. First one was great and was inspiration to start brewing kombucha again. This second try arrived with a thin, small scoby. After 14 days there was no baby SCOBY and really no difference in taste from the start. Same at 20 days. This is my first ever seeming fail after many kombucha batches and no change in procedure, equipment, or storage. Room temperature (summer) was slightly higher but completely within brewing range. Actually may have been a better temperature for brewing compared to winter months. Not sure what to think. May try once more to determine if product or user error? Just thought someone should know this is a possibility. 3 stars because the product worked very well the first time.”

“Happy with this purchase. My scoby and starter tea were very nicely packaged. The scoby was in good shape and the starter tea was a very strong, high quality culture. Its taking a little bit more time for my first batch to really get going but thats perfectly normal with a new culture and I expected it to be a little slow. Im really happy with this purchase!”
“Perfect for new kombucha brewers. Great directions on the packaging. All the pellicles in my Scoby hotel dried out while we were out of town for a month, so I was delighted to find I could buy a new one online. The packaging is excellent, included adequate starter kombucha, and includes GREAT instructions. I'm a veteran kombucha brewer, but I still learned a lot from the info on the package. Like the proper pH levels for different stages, and the fact that the "disk" is actually a pellicle; the starter kombucha is the Scoby.”
