“Too many questions! Keep it simple! Been brewing my own Kombucha forawhile (few years). Had tostart from scratch a couple times because once I had fruit flies that slipped through "cheap cheese cloth," the other, we moved and couldn't transport. Great starter kit!”
“Healthy SCOBY. Excellent value. I received a Jun starter by accident, but no issue as I wanted to try it also. I had questions so emailed Fermentaholics and got a quick response. Ruthie was very helpful with my questions (haven't tried Jun before) and apologetic for the mix-up. She even offered to send me a Kombucha free of charge. Both are now fermenting nicely. I recommend Fermentaholics and will be ordering from them again”
“Totally worth it.. I'm having so much fun trying to get my kids in to it and pro tip don't talk about it to much people think its really weird but I love it do it get it have fun make a video I never have but a fun brewing experience”
“Some quick tips before you brew. After failing with my first due to personal error (temperature too low, etc), I got another and got a cheap heater wrap for like 20 bucks. Brew has already started forming a new pellice on day 2 and is progressing nicely on day 3 today. Looking forward to trying it in a few days or so. Ive done a lot of research so far and have found recommendations for this product from both joshua weissman and youbrewkombucha on youtube who both know their stuff. Some quick tips if you get this...-Keep temp around 75-80 ideally-Use enough starter tea, this one comes with 12 oz that will get you just shy of 2 cups which should be enough but if theres less DO NOT USE VINEGAR OF ANY KIND ESPECIALLY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (ACV) Changes bacterial properties and with ACV can cause vinegar eels... ew.- Just go buy some RAW Unflavored Kombucha like GT at a supermarket... ralphs, whole foods, trader joes, I dont know-keep it dark, covered with a breathable cloth or coffee filter with a rubber band to stop bugs including fruit fliesThings can go wrong, they did for me because I put the pellice and scoby (this product) in the tea when it was too warm and kept it too cold leading to a kahm yeast infection. You obviously dont need to do as much research to get this right, But I thought Id jot this down here because I wish I had it a week ago. :)”
“Love me some kombucha. This scoby came quickly and had the most liquid in the package. The first brew took almost 2 weeks to finish, probably because it is winter and cooler in the house. It also had to build up a little of the good yeast to really get going. I'm down to 5-6 days now per batch. It's working great.”
