“This cooter is heads above the competition. I watched countless reviews on YouTube so you I am confident that my experience after one day rising is not a fluke . Hope to enjoy it for many more years to come. Super sturdy and yet light !”
“Took our newly purchased Apollo Explore scooter out for it's maiden spin just after 6pm last night (Sun. 7/4/21). Here's the rundown to date:
Arrival – Scooter arrived intact in a box that had NOT been manhandled by the UPS drivers (thank you much guys). No big holes in box, no parts hanging out as I'd read had happened to some buyers. Scooter was well packaged. Took just four days to get here in Washington state from the day order was placed. Nice.
Prep work – Unboxed the thing, put tire sealant in the inner tubes. Used Slime as sealant. Product worked as described. Tightened all the key parts (brakes, throttle, bell horn, etc.). Had to watch a ton of YouTube videos at this stage. (More on that later)
Quality of workmanship – Scooter is well made. No scratches, burrs, slices or dices on it. Substantial too. At 52 pounds, you know this ain't no kids scooter. Ain't yo' grandma's scooter either. That weight adds stability and sense of well being for larger adult riders (I weigh in at 229). Did not buy it for portability as in taking to work every day so weight is not an issue. In fact for me it's a plus. Had I been planning on a daily work commute I would have purchased a scooter that maxed out at around 40 pounds or so.
The maiden ride – I'd give it a solid A. No kidding. Even for a 229 pound rider this thing has plenty of acceleration and boo-koo get up and go. I have no doubt this thing will do around 30 mph but you won't catch me goin' that fast.
No no no no no. Have no desire to take a spill on one of these things on asphalt doing 30 mph. 20 mph is plenty fast enough. At 20 mph the feel of the wind in your face plus the sight of the terrain under feet vanishing quickly makes it FEEL like you're doing 30 or 35 mph. I cannot imagine anyone WANTING to scream along at 30, 40 or 50 mph on one of these. That is a prescription for serious pain and agony in case you take a spill plus a very long hospital stay OR going to meet Jesus in a hurry.
Handles well around curves and straightaways. The scooter's suspension along with the 10" pneumatic tires does a good job of providing comfortable ride on decently smooth asphalt. If you get into some rough road, you'll know it but still the ride is tolerable. Love the clearance from bottom of deck to the ground. Would not want a scooter with less clearance than this one.
The lights on the thing look real sexy when it gets dark. Kinda reminds me of the local whorehouse, all those reds and blues and hues. You still need your own add-on headlight through. The wide deck on this bad boy is one of the best features. You can really plant those feet securely. Makes for a very solid feeling ride.
Fun factor – A solid ten. I'm an older rider – won't tell you how old but old enough to be on life support and getting the last rites from a priest – and it does make you feel like a kid again, which is one of the main reasons I bought it. I own a pretty good bike and I gotta tell ya straight up, riding a bike ain't nowhere near as fun as these things are. Not even close. Might have to sell the bike.
Dollar-to-fun-value – At this tender stage of ownership I think it was worth the dough I paid. Time will tell however about the longevity of components. Hope I can say the same thing three years from now. We'll see.
One downside – The manual that comes with the scooter. It flat out sucks. This 8 or 9 page tiny little thing is damn near worthless. Why on earth would you smart folks write a worthless manual like that one?
Have received better operating manuals with a $300 grill I bought at Costco. To learn what ya gotta learn about these things before you start riding and for sure when it comes to maintaining them, you're forced to watch reams and reams of StupidTube (i.e., YouTube) videos (of varying quality) and actually Internet hunt for some information.
That is ridiculous when you pay almost $1500 for a motion-oriented, potentially dangerous on-the-road product that DEMANDS a decent manual. So Apollo folks, get to work NOW writing a good, comprehensive manual. If you don't know how to do it, call me. I'll give you a professional discount to write one for you.
Chao bro.”
“First I have to say the battery life, which translates to more range, is great. I am a heavier rider so typically my range is reduced but the Explore just keeps going. I will say though that once you see 3 bars be prepared for a quick drop off to 0. The suspension and breaking are excellent! The scooter feels very sturdy on the bumpy NYC streets. The Explore is an all around solid scooter that can get you where you need to go and back, and then a little further. The only con is the weight but it is and understandable tradeoff for good construction, battery life, and power. I have not had the scooter for long but hopefully it continues to perform as it has been. If you are on the fence then jump over and purchase the Explore. Good bang for your buck.”
“APOLLO EXPLORE IS AWESOME! Everything advertised was spot on! We were able to get rid of 1 of 2 cars and save money! Theres is literally no time difference getting to work! 100% would recommend for anyone looking to get a beefier scooter!”
