“We started looking at the Explorer about a year ago and almost ordered it then ,we wanted them to carry camping with us to get around the camp ground and to keep up with our two grandsons on their bikes. At the time we had two smaller scooters and the wait from Apollo was about three weeks that just didn't work with our timeline, this worked out perfectly a year later there there was a fantastic up grade and then there was fluid free ride who got our scooters to us in a very fast manner and in great shape thanks fluid for the great service and the awesome scooters.”
“We are very happy with theses scooters, we purchased two. We have STEEP hills at our house and they bring us home. My wife is 125 lbs and I am 180 lbs. The real range for us seems to be about 26 miles of real riding...some uphill, downhill and flat. The top speed for us has been at least 28 to 31 miles per hour. All of this I expected after extensive research before the purchase. I have experienced a heat issue causing my scooter to shut off twice (the motor got hot), but I had done a fair amount of hills and add some hot weather as well. When it recovered it ran properly.
Overall they are great scooters and we would recommend. Also, Fluidfreeride was easy to deal with and responsive. Thank you.”
“Recently purchased two Apollo Explorer scooters from fluid free. They look great and ride nicely. Far better then a San Fran rental Lime scooter.... HOWEVER there are two real issues. One is the 800 watt Apollo Explorer single motor is NOT powerful enough to ride up any real hills greater then a 10-15% grade. Scooter slows to about 5 mph with my 190 lb body up the real 20% steeps. My two children are 88 lbs and 120 lbs so the ride up hills is fine. Second issue is battery life. Rode on the flats for about an 90 minutes, and yes, medium to full throttle on speed level two. Did about 8 miles and battery was nearly drained. So customers need to know that terrain and hills can vastly effect your speed and range. Would be best for both Apollo and Free Fluid to CLEARLY state this on their web sites. Maybe the Ghost or Phantom would be better options for heavy riders. Now, that being said, for one hour rides on mostly flattish roads or paths, the Apollo Explorer Scooter is awesome. I'm two weeks into this purchase, lets see about battery and mechanical durability over time......”
