“4/28/21 update: Fluid customer service was very helpful determining that the scooter needed to be replaced. I decided to upgrade to the bigger battery and sent them the old scooter for a refund. They stand by their products. Just tried to run this bigger battery out and just got too tired. This scooter has unbeatable value. When you can cruise 24 mph on flat ground, you can get to where you are going almost as fast as a car.
I just got my scooter a week ago. I noticed on a couple of short rides, the battery meter seems to come down fast. Well I decided to charge up and push my luck, I thought maybe the meter isn't accurate. Just walked back from being stranded. I rode about 5 miles slightly down hill, and about 2 miles slightly uphill and it was done. Conditions were fine, I weigh about 175 lbs. Fluid says 20ish range, I'd say on flat ground mine is less then half that. So disappointing for a scooter that got such good reviews.”
Hi David - Sorry to hear that your Horizon does not perform as expected. If you only get 7 miles out of a full charge, there must be something wrong with the battery. Please contact us at support@fluidfreeride.com so that we have a chance to troubleshoot and help you out. Thanks!
“update 05/04/21 - updating rating to 5. The scooter itself and its part obviously may have issues as with any other product you buy but FFR support, where it matters, has been excellent through out. Even though my Horizon is out of warranty, FFR had me bring the scooter to their workshop in Brooklyn. Once they checked out the scooter, FFR just offered me a replacement which was more than fair. I rode the Horizon to work from their shop and no issues. I truly think I just lucked out with a bad first scooter but FFR made things right. I can't thank FFR (Adam, Mary, Edgar, Greg) crew enough. Have a great summer!

Bought mine back in April 2020. Didn't get a chance to ride until a couple of months later. First several trips were great. Battery lasted each +/- 12 mile trip with at least 1/2 to 1/3 remaining. Then at about just under 360 miles on the odometer, the battery started cutting off at under 10-11 miles. When I got to a powersource, plugged in scooter and batter showed at about 3/4 full and volt meter at 48.8. Contacted FFR and they were always very responsive. Had several back/forth emails to try and diagnose the problem. Then had another ride with about the same results volt meter showing 47.
FFR then offered option for me to ship to them (at $150) or use local service agent in NYC for FFR. I thought the $150 was steep but understandable. So I opted for local agent but the guy never responded. This was during pandemic so who knows what happened. FFR suggested a 2nd local agent out in Brooklyn who was great. Did battery run down test and didn't get any issues. During all this, I checked the P settings and saw the controller cut off was set to 42v instead of the 39v according to FFR's display settings sheet. But when trying to change that setting, it was not possible. The local agent was also not able to change. Notified FFR of this issue and they quickly sent new display out. This was during when USPS was having major delays so 1st sent unit was lost. After giving it a good wait period, still nothing. FFR sent another unit and it was received and installed without issue and controller setting was at 39. By this time, it was too cold to ride.
Just got warm enough to ride and scooter is now worse. Riding around 3 miles in and battery cut off and I was stuck in middle of Hudson River bike path so had to hike it with a dead scooter to nearest exit and get to subway. Plugged in at office and battery meter was pretty much still full and VM at about 48. I did my own battery drain and battery did not cut out. Recharged to full and rode about a week later and got about 5 miles before battery cut off again. So was stuck on bike path again, somewhat fortunately at the 59th Street exit, still had to trek about a mile to get to subway station. I'm thinking with rider on scooter and acceleration is causing the surge and thus causing the controller cut off. But I've been riding on 2nd gear and not pushing the motor at all. I'm 5/7 and about 155 lbs.
Contacted FFR again to see what my options are and waiting to hear back. Since I am out of warranty now, I'm guessing I'm on my own on this. I just don't know if problem is with battery or something else. There are a few reviewers/riders with similar problem.
FFR support remains 5 *s for me as they have always been great with replies. Including when my back mudguard snapped off. They sent me replacement very quickly.
The Horizon scooter is 2* for me since it didn't even even reach 400 miles. 360 miles was about 30 trips for my 12 mile one way commute. So basically 15 days of use for a $700 scooter...”
Hi Bobby - we are sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Horizon. Thank you for your honest review and the detailed description of the issues. We received your email and will get back to you asap. BR
“This was a great scooter until the battery died six months after I bought it. That's when I learned that this company won't connect you with a service provider in the area (New York City!), doesn't sell replacement batteries for you to do it yourself, and won't respond to any calls or emails. It's as though they sold me my scooter and then entered the FBI's witness protection program. My scooter now stands in our apartment as a monument to the mistake of buying from a company with no customer service. I hope you don't make the same mistake I did.”
Hi Bradley - Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the battery. I am a bit surprised about the feedback, because your only attempt to contact us form yesterday was addressed immediately. We have a shop in New York City where you can take your scooter. We will stay in touch via email to reach a solution asap. BR
“The fluidfreeride horizon is built like a tank, sort of... and a capable e-scooter. Initially I was intimidated by it's large size and weight but quickly adapted to it's physical qualities. It was easy to assemble and even though I had never ridden an e scooter before I had no trouble learning to ride, balance and push off. I do have some tweaks that I would like to make (maybe-hooking up a small trailer for grocery runs) but other wise the scooter meets my expectations. One issue is that I live on a very steep hill (30 degree's approximately) and the Horizon won't make it up that and has to be jogged up with me beside it, to get to my driveway. Otherwise the scooter has good range and is a great errand runner. It's for sure fun to ride and a faster way to get around here on the back roads of my small town.”
“We had the best customer service from this company. We had to exchange our scooter and it was so easy, and the contact at FluidFreeRide was extremely responsive. Thank you for confirming that we purchased our scooter from the best company out there, and thank you for standing by your products.¬†”
