fluid HORIZON V1 - 48V 10.4Ah - 23 miles Reviews

4.7 Rating 764 Reviews
Outstanding little scooter for my 11 year old. He's used to a bit faster scooter, but this one does a decent clip at over 20 MPH, and it's light enough for him to port around and manage as needed. Plus the range of the slightly larger battery is pretty awesome! One slight caveat is that the kickstand kept coming off, and we found out the screw threads on the scooter were stripped out. Not too big of an issue, as I'm pretty handy, but I had to tap new threads and get one size larger bolt (6M to 7M), which won't sink into the kickstand mount. Just an eye-sore, but it (with a little threadlock red) allowed the kickstand to be mounted again.

I was skeptical at first. I've owned and ridden motorized scooters for years. I decided to make the move to electric and what a great decision it has been. Fluid stands behind their product and the Horizon delivers. Smooth, powerful, and quiet are just the beginning. Great customer service and a very well built scooter will help you zip around town. Forget the high gas prices and jump onboard.

Thanks to videos online by other owners or reviewers, the assembly of the Horizon scooter is quick and straightforward. I anticipated needing to make some adjustments out of the box, such as the folding mechanism. I couldn't hear the audible click when I opened the folding lever. However, when adjusted so there is a click when opening AND locking means a slight play in the stem. I tried over and over again to adjust the screws so it would feel tight in the open position, but no luck. Fortunately, when riding I don't feel unsteady or wobble. The brake and control panels are loose on the handlebar on shipment, but easy enough to position and tighten. However, when I placed them in the ideal spots for my hands, I realized I couldn't collapse the foldable handlebars. The two cuffs need a certain clearance in order to fully unscrew and bend to fold down. I wasn't able to pull the stem up all of the way up because the cables wrapped OVER the handlebars. Thanks to a tip from an online reviewer, I found the small connector to separate the wires from the cables running to the brake and throttle to reposition them under the bar, allowing the necessary clearance for the front stem to come up to its full height. But while I've solved the extension up, I can't fully push the stem all the way down before locking with the quick release lever because the cable bunches up. And here is my least favorite part of the scooter. While the quick release may be the most flexible system for adjusting the height of the handlebar, I have a really hard time tightening it so the stem doesn't slip down while riding. When I do get it tight enough, then it is a total pain to open. I wish the stem was adjusted on a pole with pins so I could feel a satisfactory lock when moving it up or down. I'm using the scooter to commute to and from work, which includes a train ride and carrying the scooter up and down flights of stairs. Because of the quick-release issue noted above, collapsing to board the train is a pain (literally hurts my thumb). The first time I took the scooter out, I collapsed both the stem and the handlebars so as to be as compact as possible. The Horizon is a hefty 40 lbs., which I knew when I purchased it. However, the photos of people carrying it (and one video reviewer who hoisted the collapsed scooter in one hand like a barbell) are deceptive. What you can't see is that when the scooter is collapsed and locked, the stem still turns. When I carry it, I can't find a good spot or center of the bar to put my hand because the stem twists in my hand. And the shape of the stem is not a perfect cylinder, making it hard to get a grip. It would be nice to have a rubber grip with finger slots or something to keep your hand from slipping. To alleviate some of the strain of carrying it, I purchased the optional trolley wheels. First, the installation was a total pain as one of the screws below the board was completely stripped. I managed to get it loose with a ratchet wrench. Once attached, the wheels are quite sturdy and bear the weight of the scooter with ease. But what I did not expect was having to keep the front stem extended to its full length so that I can drag the scooter like a suitcase. I'm not very tall (5' 6"), but if the stem is pushed any lower than its full length, I can't walk upright. It just means you can't wheel it in a fully collapsed form. And because the stem continues to twist while in locked mode, I find it difficult to find an ideal place to put my hand on the handlebar to steer it while dragging it behind me. And this may be me, but I don't love how visible the trolley wheels are, and after one use, they are very scuffed. The Horizon is very sleek, with a nice black matte finish. The scuffed wheels make it look cheap and tacky. My only experience with scooters prior to this purchase is with rentals (Lime and Bird). The Horizon is a much more pleasant ride. I've only been using it for a week, but the suspension is nice even on uneven roads. I assume the air-filled front tire is one contributor to a less stiff ride. The throttle is a bit jumpy and takes some getting used to because it's not thumb-controlled. But the scooter is very responsive. Shifting between the speeds and acceleration is quite fluid. On a smooth open path, it's very fun to ride. The brake works well and doesn't feel abrupt. At night, the lights that beam in front and below the board are great. I discovered the cruise control setting under the advanced settings (P-settings). This works really well and contributes to an overall smooth and steady ride. However, I have only been able to get it to work in gear/speed 2. Overall, I am pleased with this scooter and hope it will continue to perform as well as it has in this first week.

So far, so good! I keep this stowed in the trunk of my small SUV, since I have to park a little over a mile from work, yet still run around throughout the day. It gets me to work, fast and I charge it up in the office. Great ride, and zippy and spirited enough for what I use it for!

Horizon is smooth fast and folds up better than my other ones. Delivery was fast and they answered my questions thoroughly. I am 150 lbs and it goes 24 mph.

This is the midtier scooter you are looking for. The bolts are sturdy, the suspension is pretty good, and it has nice attention to detail (low profile running lights, effective braking, and simple folding assembly). However, I do miss the power of a scooter with two motors. This scooter works well if you can stick to bike lanes and only infrequently need to assertively drive in the road.
