“I've enjoyed the Horizon scooter for 2.5 weeks now and have put 150 miles on, with enough abuse to say it's very robust. It's a very smooth, comfortable ride compared to the cheap rent-a-scooters, with enough room on the deck for size 14 boots. For a guy of 6' 2" 180, its normal cruising speed is an optimal 22 MPH. It can handle hills reasonably and hits about 25 MPH downhill. So far I've only pushed it to around 18 miles range when it started to slow a little; I have yet to try (or need) more. I must say the speed and range are very satisfying. At night I do have to use a headlamp to supplement the headlight, but with all the lighting I feel very visible. Charge rate is 1.48A/114 watts.”
“I've been riding my Horizon for the past 2 weeks around 120 miles and so far everything has been a blast. Aside from a couple plastic pieces breaking (that did not inhibit the overall function of the scooter, plus Fluid has amazing customer service that helped troubleshoot and shipped out the parts to me ASAP) I've had no complaints on the range and power. I will say if you're a heavier rider (225-260), with a commute that you know has high incline hills, I would suggest springing for something a little more powerful. That said, Horizon still gets me (at 250 pounds) up 95% of most hills, even if at 5-10 mph, but do be aware it starts to feel like you are overworking the single motor a little when the incline is really harsh. I actually pre ordered the base Mantis getting in in a few weeks and am looking forward to the added power for those hill climbs and to keep up with traffic a little better (I live in a more rural city with about a 10 mile each way commute on various inclines) and to do some comparisons. (Keeping Horizon as a backup is a no brainer.) On gradual uphills and flat Terrain, even at 250lb, with a decently full charge, Horizon easily hits 22- 24mph consistently with no problem and 35mph downhills with a braking system that so far has definitely helped make me feel very safe even for a single brake setup. I may update this review later on as I ride it even more, but if this is the price point you're looking for, you simply aren't going to find it anywhere else with the performance, range (for $70, can't go wrong with extended range!), and dual suspension (big deal!) plain and simple, especially not as highly rated as it is either. Couldn't recommend more! If you're still hesitant, I highly recommend looking up Electrek and Electric Scooter Guide's reviews on YouTube and/or their website, their honest and unbiased assessment really helped me make a good decision.. which is why it was so easy to buy a second scooter from Fluid so soon too!”
“the front wheel guard was broken on my 3rd ride due to railtrack crossing, i didn't fall down or anything, but the material is not very strong..it broke like its nothing at all. iam so sad”
“I use my Horizon every weekday for my 5 mile roundtrip commute. This thing goes up to 22mph without a problem, fast! I'm also surprise how long the battery lasts, I only have to charge every 3 or so days. I used to own a GXL V2 and it simply does not compare. The scooter is a big heavy and difficult to maneuver when folded so don't expect to go up or down many stairs. Other than that it is best of its class.”
“I am very pleased with my new horizon e scooter. I live in a hilly Central New York town. Was concerned that 500 watts was not enough power. Horizon has handled everything I've thrown at her. Holds 20 plus miles an hour, no problem. Suspension is adequate, but solid rear tire thumps hard on bigger bumps. I can accept that trade-off for never getting a flat on my drive Tire. Lights are adequate to be seen but not for seeing by. Clamp-on bicycle headlight solved that problem. Would have given five stars except for these points, trigger throttle is just awful. Fatigue sets in after only a few minutes of riding. Cruise control works well but you have to be careful with it. Secondly, handlebars do not come up high enough for a six footer. Not a deal-breaker but a little awkward. Lastly, The Horizon folds down into a lovely small package, I have no problem lugging it's 42 LB bulk, however it does mean that the deck is narrow and a little shorter than I would like it. Overall however, I rate this little scooter very highly. Folded It Up and chucked it in the back of an Uber yesterday no problemo. It's Speedy enough and powerful enough that it thoroughly deserves its reputation as the best scooter in its price category.”
“I certainly don't love this scooter, but would I buy it again? Probably. The simple fact is that if you are looking for something in between the $300-400 ride share scooters and Boosted there aren't a ton of options, especially if speed matters. I came close to ordering the Zero 8 via Singapore, but opted for the Horizon, mostly because I preferred the simple black to the race car coloring of the Zero 8.
Speed: I can get to 21-22mph on flat ground. Coming up 2-3mph short of the max speed is consistent what I've experienced with other scooters, so that wasn't surprising to me.
Acceleration: Sluggish to start, but once you hit 8-9mph, it gets moving quickly. If you are in the city and do a fair bit of stopping and starting, this can be frustrating.
Handlebars: Both sides are constantly vibrating loose. Sometimes it is just a quarter turn, sometimes it is closer to a full turn. Your view of this situation probably depends on how you use it. If you are constantly folding down the handlebars, then you probably won't mind or even notice the looseness.
Kickstand: With the kickstand out, the scooter approaches a 45 degree angle. It's weird. The kickstand is at least an inch too short. My problem with it is not stability, it's with space. When my wife's scooter is flush to the wall with the kickstand out, it takes up 10 inches of space from the wall. The Horizon takes up 16-18 inches from the wall (with handlebars folded down) because of how steep the angle of the kickstand is.
Ride quality: The pneumatic front tire makes a big difference in smoothness. I wish the back tire was air too.
Overall, while I still think the Horizon is the best option for me, it may not be for everyone. If you are making a serious commute, then I think you would want to upgrade to a scooter with two pneumatic tires and a more polished build. If you aren't making a serious commute and don't need to go 20mph, then you can find the same quality for h...”
“I'm very happy with my Horizon, it's got power up hills, it's fast on the straightaways and the battery stays powered thru my everyday commuting. No complaints. Folds up easy and is rugged and sturdy when on the road.”
