“Buddy of mine had a e scooter. I ride it and it was fun. I bought it and it was a nightmare; felt weak, no range, decent speed but would struggle with slight inclines, felt flimsy. I did more research and found the wide wheel served me better. More range, power and speed. Love my purchase. Solid construction. Thank you for restoring my faith in e scooters”
“I've owned the dual 500-watt version for 3 months now, primarily used to commute the last mile to/from work 5-days a week. Estimating about 130-150 miles thus far.
Pros:
- Dual 500W version is a fast machine. Hills are no issue. I'm 190lbs.
- Speed is great, 25mph average flat or downhill. Uphill slightly less, but fast enough to keep up with most eBikes, like the Rad.
- Battery life is good too. I usually charge it every 3-4 days.
- The above are the primary reasons I purchased this scooter. If it weren't for the list of cons below, we'd have 5 stars.
Cons:
- Tires are like slicks if the street has the slightest amount of moisture, ie a puddle, dew, someones spilled coffee, etc. Zero traction. Do not ride this after a mist.
- Wide tires are great for the straights, but terrible in turns, ie. they look awesome but perform poor.
- On the dual 500W version, the front wheel is powered too and has a cable running through the axle. They cut a U-shape guide through the end of the axle which only leaves 2-3 threads to tighten, ie meaning it has stripped twice already. The first replacement was under 90-day warranty. The new one stripped again this weekend, the same way.
- The tires feel soft to the touch, but on the road, they are like rocks and have zero give. Small bumps in the road have bent the rims multiple times.
- Given the rough ride, every screw has come loose and needed to be tightened. Including the wheels, which is how the font axle stripped the first time. (And no, I was not over-torquing it.) Tip: Use some Loctite when this happens to you.
- The rear brakes also came loose due to the same reason and need to be constantly adjusted, ie daily.
- The ECU often resets too, again due to the rough ride. I've been knocked out of power mode several times. Stopping, resetting, and restarting is normal.
- It's heavy. Very heavy. But that's ok. Unless you have stairs to climb with it. You have been warned.
After a lot of research, I wanted to love this scooter.”
“Finally had some time to take it for a spin and I was not disappointed. I'm 330lbs and it went up hills over and over again at my local park with no problem. Not sure how it will hold up to my weight over time, but day 1 was fun. Very fun scooter. I haven't even tried the more powerful speeds yet.”

“I talked to Peter today 08/26/19. Ordered my Wide Wheel Scooter a couple of days ago and sent an e-mail to Peter to ask him to please take care of my order with care and check that my scooter would work good out of the box because I "read and noticed" a few problems on previous reviews. Peter decided to cancel my order upfront because he said "I requested a cancellation". What I requested was just for my order to be quality checked because of a previous bad experiences with Segway last week when I ordered their Segway ES4 unit (the unit was defective out of the box with already known issues, hundreds of people have reported those problems on their forums.)
Unfortunately Peter decided that the best course of action for my order was to cancel it. He told me over the phone that they could not quality check every scooter and only did "spot checking". The degree I requested is the degree any business owner should already be offering if he wants to keep his customers happy. I didn't want to argue with him so I just took the refund and will take my business elsewhere because I don't know like to do business with individuals who don't to think outside the box and to put their customers' concerns above and beyond. I was simply asking for the normal quality check that American businesses are known. I really had more hopes for Peter because everyone praises him and this company. All I asked was for my scooter to work normally of the box as any new product is supposed to but I imagine that this was too big of a request.
Here are the problems that plague this scooter as of 08/26/19 per the reviews.
1. Main stick bending during acceleration
2. Controller getting stuck
3. Battery not charging to 100%
4. Rear wheel shake problems
Read the comments on other reviews and you will see that these quality problems still occur on and off and in my book this is unacceptable because of the cost of this scooter.
Sincerely
Valentino”
Hi Valentino
In your email to us you explicitly requested to have your order cancelled if we could not individually check your scooter. We explained to you that all scooters are quality checked at the manufacturer but that we do not check each scooter again before shipment to the customer. Because these procedures do not meet your standards, we cancelled your order as per your instruction.
Fluidfreeride are here to support our customers with any problem they may have after their purchase. The support or lack thereof that you received from Segway is by no means a reflection of our customer support.
What you describe as problems that "plague" the Widewheel are problems that can occur with any scooter, that's why it is important to choose a company that takes care of its customers after the sale.
Regards
Fluidfreeride
