“Hey Guys,
the 1.000 Watt WIDEWHEEL is great fun and it looks cool!
In Germany we do have one problem with it: The insurance company (you have to insure the WIDEWHEEL in Germany by law!) Wanst to see an Vehicle Type Approval, which I Didn‚Äòt get from you so far. Without that, I am not allowed to Drive Outside on the Street.”
“Purchased the dual motor version from FluidFreeRide 2 weeks ago. The scooter is truly excellent, has some serious oomph of 25mph once de-restricted and is more than fast enough if not ludicrous! Had a few strange looks in London zipping past a number of bikes/cars and wipes the ground of fellow Xaomi scooters for speed. The battery seems to do well too, does around 12ish miles on a charge but that's full throttle over the 12... Its not a light scooter, but at this speed capacity I think it's very good. It can be a little jerky, but you get use to this and it's no problem. The folding mechanism is also good and sturdy. Overall a well built and fast piece of kit. Highly recommend if you want something that will outpace the rest..!!”
“Received my widewheel a couple days ago and it's hard to explain how much fun it is. Ok so the throttle isn't perfect, but if you exercise you brain and your thumb it's not bad. Putted around on cruise at 7 mph. So much fun, haven't yet tried to unlock the speed yet. It's hard also to tell you in a review how fast and stable it's but WOW is how I reference this scooter. FYI it is my first time on a scooter and I've only had it for a couple of days but I am so impressed!!! Thank you Fluidfreeride. !!!!!!”
“I have the dual motor scooter, my first e-scooter. I read the negative reviews of the throttle and they are right. It is unfortunate that the throttle does not seem to be programable. My car has a regular mode and sport mode. They control the same motor, but sport mode is more aggressive at the beginning, making the car seem punchy. The Mercane is the opposite, for much of the throttle, it is unresponsive, then it just takes off. I was riding on unpaved trails where some areas were narrow and somewhat steep. I had to turn around as the trail went from a path to steps. I had to restart uphill. I pushed off, hit the throttle and the wheels spun.
I'll concede that I may have been riding in a different environment than many riders. I found that riding on a paved road, the last half of the throttle accelerated smoothly, although without a great change in speed. Most of the speed adjustment is in a narrow band. I found it difficult to hold a steady speed over bumpy trails because I was using the throttle in that sensitive region.
I don't know the technical details for controlling the output of the electric motors, but I'd like to see the throttle to work with an exponential increase in speed. You should be able to crawl along with a light throttle, medium speed midrange, and it should still increase in speed near the end of the range. I'd also like to see another mode. I wish I could start the scooter without kicking by holding the brake. In the instance I had to start up a steep grade, I want to hit the throttle and release the brake. I know it can be programmed to start without the kick start, but I don't want to change it into that mode for the instance in which I am starting uphill with a steep grade.
All in all, a pretty good scooter. I wasn't looking for a lot of speed. I just wanted to tool around in the parks, around the lake, and stuff like that; no cars and few people.”
“My City has a ton of hills, and I needed something that could get me around town without having to push the scooter up the inclines. This scooter has plenty of power. I like the volt meter and simple design. For the next model, I'd like to see a front brake, and an easier way to change speed modes. Other than that great purchase. Would buy again.”
“The good: Worked out of the box. Battery life is excellent. Seems solid and relatively comfortable.
To improve: For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the Eco mode turned off (yes, I did read the instructions and watch the videos). The back flap is not long enough to prevent splatter on wet roads. People seem to suggest extending the back flap with duct tape, which is unfortunately what I'll do.
Note that the two motor version is a little too heavy to lug around for any period of time -- I'd probably opt for a lighter model if I were to do this again.”
