“I really enjoy riding my new WideWheel Pro scooter however, the more you ride it‚Äîover time you start to notice the various little things they could have done to improve the overall quality of the scooter, especially at this price point. Some of these things may seem nitpicky, but for this price, if I noticed them, you likely will too. When I read reviews, I tend to find the negative/critical reviews most helpful, so here you go:
• Wheels:
The wide wheels certainly take some time getting use to and in my opinion limits your maneuverability. You can't make sudden or sharp turns without losing balance and almost falling. However, with enough riding time and practice you get better. The wheels are also very flat and have little traction at all, so of course, no off-roading. You may also find yourself sliding on some surfaces upon stopping or accelerating. It would be nice to see some alternative wheel/thread options. I can already start to see my tires bald after minimal use.
• Phone App:
Though this is not a huge issue, it would have been nice to have a mobile app to compliment the scooter and possibly show some additional data metrics, control/display customizations or even updates. Many other scooters at this price point have this.
• Folding:
This one is particularly bothersome for me. I spend too much time turning that flimsy dial to fold and unfold the scooter. It's often a struggle if it's too tight, too loose, or not in the right position. They could have saved us SO much time if they simply designed a clever latch that we could engage rather than the manual labor of making sure everything was aligned before we can start turning the dial. Additionally, when riding, I'm starting to hear a lot of creaking noises coming from the stem of the scooter making it sound cheap or requiring me to tighten the dial even more. As for the handlebars, it's nice they fold as well but they don't stay firmly folded and when transporting/moving it (i.e., putting the scooter in the trunk of a car), they often unfold annoyingly right when you don't want them to.
• Weight:
It's heavy! This is not something anyone will want to carry around even short distances. For the next iteration, it would be nice to see some better lightweight materials used without sacrificing quality.
• Suspension:
The "suspension" is very minimal in my opinion. I rarely ever experience a bounce or shock absorption when riding the scooter unless I forcefully bounce myself. In other words, I highly doubt the little suspension it has is doing much in terms of absorbing minor bumps in the road. Going over even slight bumps sometimes feels/sounds like the scooter is made of cheep plastic.
• Ergonomics:
The handlebar grips are the most ergonomic aspect of the scooter. Your palms and fingers will form nicely around the grips however, when you combine the break positions, throttle, and grips, everything starts to feel out of place/like you're reaching. It could just be me but it's a challenge trying to focus on what's in front of you while managing your grip, the breaks and acceleration all at the same time. I think more work could have been done to alleviate this. Perhaps aligning the breaks under the grips for easy/quick access so not to take your hands off the grips entirely and to maintain control at high speeds. Yes, it's very easy to lose control and wipe out at high speeds if not extremely careful.
• Breaks:
I can hear my disc brakes rubbing, squeaking, and making all sorts of noises depending on if you're turning, going high speeds, or slowing down. My friend and I purchased the same scooter and we both experience the same issues. He discovered there were internal brake parts damaged and got them replaced. I also kept noticing he would always go considerable faster than me all the time and I couldn't figure out why (all our settings were the same). We came to learn part of the reason was the back break was too tight. However, loosening it up only caused the break handle to loosen, requiring me to squeeze all the way down to stop (extremely dangerous). The squeaking and disc rubbing is still an issue, I think something is bent or off. Suffice to say, the breaks are all over the place—they're either too tight, too loose and or too noisy and we shouldn't have to make these adjustments out of the box.
• Display:
It's okay. Though an HD screen with an actual battery percentage rather than a voltage indicator would have been nice.
• Cord/Wire Management:
The wires and cords sticking out on the front of the scooter is another component that's minor but could have been tucked in neatly.
• Throttle Replacement:
This is something I immediately noticed. Even slightly accelerating caused the scooter to jolt aggressively into high-speed verses taking off smoothly and maintaining a low speed if desired. Changing the throttle fixed this, however, causing an even odder hand position where you need to push th...”
Hi Eric - Thank you for your detailed review! One thing we would like to clarify about the brakes: After the delivery-process they need to be checked and possibly adjusted to ensure that the brakes are not rubbing on the disc (the source of the noise you mentioned). If this issue persists, please shoot us a quick email (at support@fluidfreeride.com) and we will send you detailed instructions on how to adjust the brakes so that they are not rubbing on the disk nor loosening the handle. Thanks!
“Great scooter!! A little lag when accelerating but when it does you have to hold tight or get left behind by your scooter! Rides stable and goes fast!! Suspension could be better but manageable.”
“What a fantastic ride this machine is. So smooth and tons of speed. So far riding it for a few weeks, we've had absolutely no issues after about 30mi. Love it, Love it Love it. The only issue is the throttle, its very touchy on power mode. would recommend to anyone looking for a high-end scooter that reaches 25+mph.”
