“It is my 2nd model upgrade. I had an older model two years back. It worked well. This newer model had the Bluetooth added. My iPhone app works well with the meter. It is nice to have the auto conversion to GKi. Meter works as advertised. The app is very simple but also does work as advertised. As one develops data, it does begin to chart.”
“Meter works perfect, no complaints... Sorta. I like the gki index. Bluetooth works perfectly. But overall, I liked the ergonomics on the old meter better (the strip release was way easier). I also preferred strips in a cannister. The packs are hard to open and get the strip out. If they last longer, great. But I use mine in a few months anyway. The light is entirely unnecessary. The case is way better. Didn't like the new lancet holder as much, but that's a tiny nitpick. Appreciate the lower cost of strips most of all. Otherwise, maybe a functional and cost improvement, but a step back in every aspect of useability. Still great, happy I upgraded.”
“Was very easy to trade up, I like the new meter. the only thing I don’t like is the glucose and ketone strips are no longer in a little canister, they are in individual packs you need to tear open. I really really miss the convenience of opening a little canister.”
“New meter (GK+) has a nice form factor. The added LED light at the port where strips are inserted is nice. the softe case is a nice addition, though it coul be better if it had a nice "loop" to hold the lancing device secure rather than just "pockets." I have a case that keeps the lancing device secure right at the "hinge" for the case, and that keeps it out of the way, and keeps it from damaging themeter if/when you sit on it or put something heavy on top of it when the lancing device is "on top" or "underneath" the meter when the case is closed. It appears they removed some of the data that I expected to have based on the prior version (hemacrit% and Hemagloing/dl). I also find it annoying that there doesn't seem to be a way to enter "setup" mode without removeing the batteries (for example if I mis-entered the date or time the first time around, or want to change the alarm settings, beep settings, etc). I also can't seem to figure out how to view "memory" on the device (ie look at previous readings), which means I _have_ to have my phone with me to view previous readings. I haven't yet tried to "download" data, perhaps the missing information that I'm looking for will appear there? I also find it extremely annoying that they have changed the style of the strips so that I cannot use the old strips in the new meter. I don't much care for the foil packed strips the new meter uses (vs the plastic pop lid case from the old meter). I find it very difficult to open the foil packet and extract the strip from the packet. It is also annoying that they have changed the design of the lancet/lancing device so that it is not compatible with the original lancing device... so now I have to keep a stock of 2 types of lancets. It would be even better if they designed it to be able to use some "generically" available lancet that you could pickup at CVS for instance. I think this is the first time I have used the "control" fluid, and it's a bit disconcerting that the "control" has such a wide range of "good" values... it doesn't seem like much of a "calibration" if the control can have a "valid range" that is +/- multiple 10's of mm/L (keytones) or g/dl (glucose).”
“Great recycle program for upgrading and like new meter but really dislike the new packing on the strips. They are an absolute pain to get out of the packing. Like old package containers much better. Plan on it taking twice as long to measure your numbers just due to getting the strips out of packaging. Feels like so much more waste.”
