“I am giving this battery four stars only because when I bought it two weeks ago, it cost me $190, rather then today's price! That is no fault of the battery's, of course. Like a number of other people here, I chose a much simplified method of removing the battery directly, rather than disassembling most of the machine. The secret is to put the computer case up on something so that the solvent runs down to the bottom edge, and cannot go anywhere else. I used braided fishing line with half a dozen knots tied in it to cut through the glue after softening with the solvent. The entire process took less than an hour. The modified instructions are on YouTube for anyone interested. I am a massive fan of OWC, who commissioned the manufacture of these batteries. I will be buying directly from Macfixit from now on, rather than importing OWC items from the US. I am extremely glad that they are agents for OWC's excellent products. Getting back to the battery, it lasts as long as my new 16 inch MacBook Pro, or very close to it. My old machine has been completely rejuvenated with the new battery. I was careful to calibrated following the instructions too. Two thumbs up.”
“As other reviewers have noted, the installation was flagged as "advanced" but I followed the excellent video instructions and had no problems. The whole job took about a few hours to complete. Care needs to be taken to make sure the screws were correctly marked when they were removed so I used an old egg carton to keep them separate.
If the process looks intimidating, take your time and follow the video guide. It contains everything you need to know.
So far, battery performance has been excellent. Very happy with this upgrade.”

“I didn’t realise from the description on the website how difficult and time-consuming this was. I am sure the quality if the unit is great, but seriously, the installation process required just doesn’t make this a realistic proposition for. Most people. Ended up having to go to a shop and everything cost me double in the end. Just not worth it IMO.”
