“As long as you have the Empire conversion kit, this is a great deal. You always need more TIE/ln. They're 22 pts, you can fit that in your list. Howlrunner swarm all the way!”

“While it has fallen out of favor lately, the swarm of TIE Fighters is an iconic part of Star Wars space battles. Utilizing their combined firepower to make up for their individual weakness, the swarm can batter through even the most potent defenses through sheer number of dice rolls. While the Core set does give two fighters and with all the other stuff is a better deal (since you will need more dice than there are in a single set), this expansion does offer one fantastic reason to get it: Howlrunner. The leader of the squadron pursuing the Falcon from Cloud City, Howlrunner is one of the best TIE Fighter pilots in the Empire. Her ability improves every ship that stays close to her by letting them reroll an attack dice. Since the TIE swarm is essentially playing a game of dice attrition (hoping your opponent gets bad luck enough times to destroy him/her), being able to potentially reroll a die with every single attack is incredible. There are a few other pilots as well with decent abilities but are hampered by the generally weak abilities of the TIE Fighter (but cheap enough to be filler if needed).”

“What you're probably gonna wanna do is buy a few of these and run Howlrunner and Swarm Tactics. By themselves these guys aren't too much of a hassle but can be a real headache for your opponent if you run several. Experiment with other types of TIE as well, like Defenders and Punishers.”

“Not flashy, not special but the base TIE is probably the best all around performer in x-wing. For a ship that was included in the base set the TIE is still at a the forefront of competitive play. The swarm tactic is still viable and there is no better point filler than a base academy tie. Every Imperial player needs a good 3-7 of these ships. Purchase a few of these sets, you're going to need them!”
