Elenco WeMake FM Radio Kit with Soldering Iron and Tools Reviews

4.4 Rating 43 Reviews
Bought for my 17 yo son and he loved it. Three levels of learning, he learned the electronic components, the radio design and the mechanics of soldering. Tools of a very reasonable quality and now they are HIS

Excellent kit. I would recommend a higher wattage soldering iron to be included if that is possible.

As long as you follow the directions it will come out great. Mine works perfectly. There is no tip cleaner for the iron stick though which would have been helpful since the solder kept accumulating at the top of the stick. Other than that it came out great.

This was very easy to build. My ten year old son was able to do it with minimal assistance. We used it for a science project and it went great. I would definitely recommend for children to do it has easy to follow instructions.

There is no sponge. Anyone buying may wish to get a stand for the soldering iron. I am using a old pan from the kitchen. When I really get into this. I will be getting a stand (I gave my old one away) :( This probably will not work, because I am really just getting truly interested in this kind of electronic rather than my previous passing interest. So I may end up buying the radio again. Otherwise, this is a great starter kit.

Me and my grandson (15) had great fun with this. I did the first solder, and he did all the rest, with me holding things to make it easier. The radio worked first time! Took about 3 or 4 hours. It's great that it comes with the soldering iron, solder and even snips to cut off the excess wires. Instructions are good, and even contain detailed lessons on electronic theory if you are interested, although you don't need to read those to build the kit.
