“The 4.1 mm shaft is the weak link in these retracts. Over time flying off of grass, this strut support shaft begins to bend backward. It’s easy enough and cheap enough to replace; however, if it were case hardened it would last a lot longer.”

“These gear are the nose gear retract. The only difference between these and the retracts for the main gear is that these come with the stud that the strut mounts to. The problem is that this stud has a flange on it to stop it from falling out since it is designed to rotate as a nose gear. The only way to remove it and replace it with the main gear stud is to split the gear in half. It can be done, but it is tedious. They are interchangeable except for what I described above.”

“I purchased this to retrofit onto the nose gear of the 70mm BAE Hawk which comes with a weak 3mm strut pin. The mounting flange on this servo is weak and susceptible to fracture as mentioned in other reviews. The FlightLine retract reinforcement plates will help alleviate that issue. Would be nice if the Motion RC site would point buyers to this added accessory when purchasing this servo because if you don’t exactly know what the reinforcement plates are called, they are difficult to find on the Motion RC site or anywhere else.”

“This was ordered to beef up the nose gear on 70mm BAE Hawk which has a fragile 3mm pin. Might have given it a "5" if Motion RC would have included the 4mm steering arm as some others do. Needed to drill both the strut and steering arm.”

“I wish the plastic surrounding the mech was stronger. One landing on medium rough grass cracked the plastic housing causing it to fail. The landing was not bad at all. I landed on the mains and on roll out touched the nose gear down, it caught the grass and collapsed. No damage to the plane but had to replace it.”
