Received this Wednesday and flew Thursday night. Great flyer I balanced 1/4 inch back from the instructions and flew perfect. Plenty of power with the stock fan, and a 1800mah battery. Added landing gear and need to practice my landings , but I would recommend this jet to anybody.

It does need an uplift on power. It is way underpowered. I place a Dr. Madd Thrust with 5s in mine and it gets up and goes. I also added the wheels to do take-offs and lands, much better that hand launching.

With only 2 years of flying experience I was a bit hesitant after reading reviews that indicate difficulty with hand launching. Sure enough I broke the wings off twice before I finally figured it out. I'm using an 1800 battery and with full power I just very gently give the plane a push forward (not up) as it leaves my hand. Did I mention very gently? I saw videos of people throwing it fairly aggressively into the sky and that is a recipe for an immediate crash. Honestly, the plane will almost fly out of your hand but does need a little horizontal push to get going. Now have enjoyed many awesome flights and it looks and sounds amazing in the air.

This is an update to original review dated 5/4/2016.After having some difficulty with takeoff, I've installed the optional landing gear sold 09arately and flew this morning.Takeoff is much easier and smoother with the gear and I would highly recommend this setup. Landing is relatively easy because of slow approach speed but gets bouncy unless very smooth. I think this airplane is a very good introduction to EDF.

Nice quality material and easy build. Using stock setup with 3S 1800Mah battery and getting 5 min of flight time. Proper CG obtained without any addition. Flew twice without landing gear but no hand launch.I'm an intermediate flyer with numerous low wing experience but was still apprehensive about hand launch after reading some reviews. I built a four wheeled dolly for takeoff ground roll and still had tricky takeoff and a close call. It seems to have a normal liftoff, speed has to be relatively high therefore If liftoff is inadvertently forced with high elevator up input, it will go vertical instantly and stall. Even if the plane is perfectly trimmed you have a very small window once it goes vertical to recover.Once level and flying at normal speed the plane is very stable with 12ent speed and average sensitivity in maneuvers. Landing speed was on the low side and easy to belly land on grass. Landing on hard surface with optional gear attached might be another story.I've 12ided to abandon the dolly and install the optional landing gear and see if that helps to obtain higher takeoff speed. I will update after flying with the gear.

I agree 100 percent with Scott: there are enough hot dog planes available that you don't have to spend more money. I wouldn't change a thing about this plane. Looks great in the air, and flies like it's on rails. I've bungee launched and hand launched with no problems. No bad habits. if I want an adrenaline rush I have other EDFs. I'm 81 years old and if I wear this F9F out I'll but another one. Don't throw too hard when you hand launch and you'll be fine.
