“Great Flying Jet, My first ever Fan Jet the only thing I can say about this plane is that if you purchase this plane DO NOT BUY THE 1600 BATTERY THE CG WILL NOT WORK BUY THE 2200 AND PUSH IT ALL THE WAY FORWARD AND THE CG IS GREAT and after the plane is airborn give it full stick and you will love the way it flies.EDIT: from Motion RC. A 2200 3S will require modification to the battery tray. Everyone likes a different CG and we find a 2200 3S pushed fully forward to be far to nose heavy for our liking. We also use a 2200 3S but not all the way forward. We also position the ESC next to the elevator servo and put our RX under the ESC.”
“I have flown this plan for the past year at my local High School Football and Track Field. I guess I have something like 250 to 300 flights on this plan and it is worn out. I have never crashed this plan, but I have gone through several servos, two ESC and now I have a fan motor that is not up to full performance. It too, I think is starting to fail. For all these reason I have purchased this same plan as the one I have been flying. Good Flying Plan!! On this Plane I am going to upgrade the EDF with a 10 blade Rotor combined with a 5450KV motor, and a 50A ESC. I am going to run this plane with 4S 14V 1600ma Battery. I know that the plan will handle the thrust and speed, but am not sure if this will all fit in the limited space. We will see.The Service from Motion RC is OUTSTANDING. They shipped the items I order the same day I placed the order. I actually received everything the next day. How is that for Service!!! (HK takes this long just process an order) Motion RC gets my business.”
“I purchased this plane based on reviews. I'm in Australia but dropped shipped this for a cheaper overall postage cost. Came double boxed (Thanks Motion RC) and in mint condition! I'll add that my receipt also had thank you hand written on it! Nice touch, it's the little things.I slowly built this over 2 hours. I used the Epoxy in the box which is actually fairly 12ent. First flight was a dream... nice climb out and only two clicks of down elevator, two clicks right aileron and she was level... WOT on 4S this thing goes like stink.. I have the 64mm Freewing F-86 Sabre as well, but love the F9F more. The lively colours, good build quality and ease of assembly make this plane a winner. Handles like it's on rails. Rolls on a dime and can climb effortlessly on 4S. Sounds not to bad for a stock fan too...Couple of points, make a good battery stop, the velcro isn't enough to secure the battery and it will shift backwards changing the COG and possibly stalling out the plane mid launch! As already mentioned, remove paint from all surfaces to be glued... very very important. Use non acetone nail polish remover very carefully to remove with an earbud... DO NOT SPLASH IT. I also gave it two coats of water based polyurethane sealant. Gives a nice gloss finish and fends of hanger and ground rash... (Can be purchased in matte also). The waterslide 12als will chip over time. Sealing them means they looks new for ages.I fly this using a 35C 4S 2200mAh battery and the stock ESC isn't quite enough, change it over if you consider using 4S. The battery will fit if you remove some foam just under the canopy, 3mm deep is enough.I affixed 3mm thick Carbon Fibre rods into the wings which then feed into the fuse stopping just in front of the air intakes (approximately 10cm long). This offers much greater strength over the squared block end of the foam wing and fuse joiner with straight epoxy. One great thing about this plane is that the wingtip tanks make it a good discus launcher, hold the tip and fling it out at 3/4 or WOT and it will climb out true and straight without error or stall.I highly recommend this plane. Freewing models so far have exceed expectation for me and I would not hesitate to buy another, this was my third Freewing purchase and certainly not my last. This plane will not disappoint.I have already received a new 64mm Dynamically Balanced all Alloy fan for this bird as it just screams for a sweeter sound....”
“Just got this from Motion and after 2 flights all I can say is it's great fun for the money.Launches are easy just a light toss straight and level at 3/4 throttle and she flies out of your hand. Increase throttle to full and elevator responds instantly so you can get it into a gentle climb after it leaves your hand. Once up to speed you can pull into steeper climbs.Probably does 50-60mph and is about as fast as a parkflyer size sport prop plane but looks faster due to the small size and quick roll rate. I use expo as these jets can be touchy. If you can fly a low wing sport plane you can fly this.Using an 1800mAh 20c pack I get about 4 minutes of mixed 1/2 and full throttle flying. I recommend a 30C or higher pack 1800-2200mAh as edf's like to be fed with power and pack won't get as warm. These planes are great fun with low full power passes and a pull into a rolling climb or short rolling vertical and level off before stalling at the top and these maneuvers look awesome with 2 or more flying at once, like a mini airshow. No issues with build, I used 15min. epoxy to mount wings and tail surfaces. Be sure to remove any paint with a light sanding from the wing panel roots and tail surfaces where they will glued for maximum strength.Motion has been great and free shipping over $100 makes ordering from them a no-brainer. Buy the jet and a couple spare parts to bring the total over $100.Motion has garnered lots of positive comments on the forums for customer service.”
“This is my first EDF jet. I bought it based on several reviews and threads. Hand launches easy, flies great. Just a blast to throw in the truck and go fly. My maiden was different than most. After checking all controls on several occasions, went to fly, and for some reason my elevator servo stuck in the full up position. Could have been worse, because I had not thrown it yet. Tom was awesome, and sent me a new servo. Maiden was a blast! Have about twenty flights so far. Modified mine to accept a 2200 mah battery, moved the ESC back to where it gets airflow over it. Rebalanced very slightly nose heavy, but files great. Found some 3M thick plastic type tape for landings on our asphalt runway. So far, so good. I highly recommend this jet and Motion RC!”
“I always wanted a panther for the looks, however my first jet (different brand) was a disaster, very hard to fly. I got this one as it caught my eye while buying some parts for my big P51 and I've got to say it changed my mind about EDF's. Flies great, no bad washout habits, wide range of flight speeds, easy landings, and durable, even when flown into a tree! For the price it's a great deal, especially combined with free shipping, and I still got it 3 days later! Motion RC rocks!”
“Wonderful flying airplane with a nice scale appearance. This is my first EDF and I had no problems transitioning at all. I have been flying on 2200mah 3s battery and I have been getting 6 min flight times. The Panther can really slow down for beginners, but at full throttle it is a blast. The only change I made was upgrading to a 40 amp ESC, as the stock 30A is cutting it close for me. Other than that the plane flies wonderful stock. Thank you Motion for the great customer service! I received the plane with a dead servo, and in 3 days, a replacement was in my hands. Thank you!”
“Great plane at a great price. I found the CG to be off from what is published. I've added weight to the nose and shoved the 3s 1800 all the way forward and it flies fine. When I first got this plane, I was using a Spectrum DX5 transmitter with no expo. That was a lot of white knuckle flying. I have since upgraded the transmitter and it is now a joy to fly. Thanks Motion RC for the prompt service. I will be back for more.”
