Freewing F9F Panther 64mm EDF Jet - PNP Reviews

4.6 Rating 407 Reviews
This plane would be the first EDF that I have had in a long time. I had an Art Tech Alpha jet for my first EDF over a year ago, and swore I would stay away from them after that. I have more time in the air now, so thought to give it another try. Some of my friends have the F9F, and suggested I get it, and I am glad I did! It hand launches easily , flies with no bad tendencies like it is on rails, and settles in for landing like a pussycat. I might have to try the Alpha Jet Again, but I really like this Panther! Looks good, flies good, and is a great deal! I'm using 1800 mah 3cell 25c and am getting 6 minute flights out of it. Thanx Motion RC y'all rock!

I had another version of the 64mm f9f which has the battery box in the belly. Upgraded to 70mm by doing some serious mods and it flys over 100mph. What excites me about this bad boy is the removable canopy and roomie battery tray. Haven't flown her yet but I'm upgrading to cyclone power turbojet 64 on a 3c2800 mah 65-130 burst. Seen this model with the Mercury pusher set up and its pretty impressive. Mine should blow the Mercury set up out toward Saturn!! Looking for 130 mph if the wings stay on!! Thanks Motion RC for the speedy service and well packaged product! You guys rock!!

I have about 20 flights on this model now and it really is a fun model to have in your stable of airplanes. Its a Hoot because it grooves so nicely and is so fast. Just be sure you have the c.g. correct and if doubt make it a little bit nose heavy. Also, fly it on low rates or it will be hard to control. I use full power on launch and then throttle back to a little over 1/2 and it easily does big loops. I added a pilot figure and am now using the 2200 mah battery and get nearly 5 minutes of flight time with no problem.

This was my very first jet after flying prop planes for about a year. I don't have any other jet to compare this jet too, but this has turned out to be a very pleasant experience. All the advise I got from the people of MotionRC was spot on. This was a very easy plane to put together & I have to say that it's probably the easiest plane I have ever flown. The EPO foam makes it a very forgiving plane to fly & land. I do have the landing gear, but have not applied them yet, simply belly landings. I've had the plane for about a week & have had about 9 flights & the plane is still in one piece. This plane glides forever on your approach for landings, can say enough good things about this plane. Would recommend 100% to anyone.

Overall, this is a fast beginner jet. I also used a 2200mAh battery. With the battery pushed to the front but not touching the nose wheel gear (not included), the CG is almost perfect. I put a little CF rod in each wing and drilled a little hole in the fuse to connect it. This jet flies pretty fast for a beginner, but glides great. It does have a pretty low stall speed compared to other jets. I would say this jet would be good for beginner jet fliers as long as it's flown at 50-75% throttle and the ailerons are dialed down to 50% or the farthest hole on the control horn.Full speed, I would say this jet is similar to the Freewing Stinger 64. It has the same motor and electronics as the Stinger (ESC looks the same). The Panther has a lot lower stall speed and much more gliding ability. Any throttle during the landing and you'll need to start your approach much farther away then you'd think. The only con about this plane would be the color scheme. It looks great as a model, but when flying, the top and bottom are exactly the same. The only difference is obviously the horizontal stabilizer. It's good enough when flown in smaller areas, but when flying farther than 500+ feet away, it's a little harder to visualize orientation of the jet. This doesn't happen a lot, and the plane has a great scale paint scheme. As a beginner, be sure to keep the plane close and you won't have any problems.Great jet to have in the hanger.Lucas

This jet goes together fast and with not problems. Very easy build for anyone who has built a few planes.I opted to use a 2200 mah battery in mine. There is plenty of space for one in the nose and it launches just fine with the extra weight.I made sure mine was balanced laterally before launch. Run up to full power give an easy toss making sure to keep the wings level and I had plenty of time to get on the sticks.Be sure to keep the control throws within tolerances. I had mine quite a bit over on the first flight and the plane was super twitchy. I dialed them back to what I would call medium rates and the plane flew like it was on rails. I was surprised at how well this plane glides too. Landings are easy just throttle back to idle and let it settle in.another great thing about this plane is the color scheme. It is very easy to see and keep you orientation with it.Overall I am VERY happy with this jet.
