“I just orderd this plane. I read the reviews and see that she tends to be nose heavy. I prefer nose heavyness. What would be a good measurement from the LE of the wing for the CG? Also, I might use a 4 cell, Is the ESC and motor capable of 4 cells? I think and have orderd an 1800 for starters. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APRECIATED.”
“This is my very first jet, I have a lot of high wing 5 channel experience and a lot of mid wing 4 channel experience. I am in love with this jet, its the perfect beginner or trainer edf jet. I assembled it in maybe an hour and a half. Like everyone else mentioned in their reviews SCRAPE THE PAINT OFF your mating surfaces before you epoxy them. I didnt... and after my maiden flight landing i had a clean break on my right wing. No problem, with the included epoxy i epoxied it on the spot at the park and 15 mins later i was doing 50mph + again in the air. I can not say enough good things about this damn jet. I was super nervous to maiden it but 10 seconds into my first flight I got my moneys worth. For 90 dollars you would be hard pressed to have more fun then you can with this jet. Iv only had 2 flights on it, I ran a 1800 mAh and a 2100 mAh lipo, and got 5 mins out of each i didnt think to check the end cell voltage but.. oh well. CG like everyone says in their own reviews is a little bit forward of the suggested cg point. They suggest 45mm from the leading edge, i ran 38mm for the 2100mAh and 35mm for the 1800 mAh and didnt have any issues. I flew it in a space of 2 soccer ball fields and that was an adequate space to learn to fly it. Dead stick landings are an absolute dream, it has a perfectly easy glide slope. And it helps that for a jet it actually slows down very nicely. I flew probably at 35% throttle and still no bad stall characteristics, I was both surprised and pleased with that. To nit pick my only complaints are, its lack of carbon fiber spars Anywhere.. that would have been nice, and how my wings fit the fuselage, meh, there was a little bit of a gap and raised edge here and there. Nothing a dollop of medium thickness CA couldnt cover up. Out of the box the the fan blade was perfectly balanced, im not sure if i got lucky or if they're all like that, but point being, for a 5 blade edf it sounds very good from others iv watch online. Sounds like a cross between a vacuum and a jet. Since my maidens iv modified the battery tray to fit a 2200 mAh lipo. The cg was tricky, with the battery half inch behind the elevator servo i found the cg to be 30mm or so behind the leading edge, still a tad nose heavy but thats how she liked it previously, giggity. I have yet to test this but im guessing itll do ok. For the same price... you can buy eflights Habu 180,... or buy this amazing beast with the Spektrum AR400 4-Channel receiver for 4$ less! and almost literally blow your socks off. For me its a no brainer. Hand launches are easier than I anticipated, 80 ish % throttle and an over hand toss and shes off. Belly landings on high grass are abrupt yet gentle. If you cant tell im infatuated with this F9F panther. On top of all that I exclusively order from Motion Rc now, due to theyre un matched customer service. Place an order mid day eastern time and I guarantee itll ship with in the hour, no lie its happened twice for me.”
“I flew a friends Panther last summer and I could not believe how much fun it was! He had removed the 1st two slats in the lower air cheater so we had a simple pinch hold for launching. We used the 2200 mAH 30C batteries moving them up front so the cg was perfect. The plane tracks like an arrow! I have been able to long low full speed passes keeping the belly 2-4 above the runway for over 50 ft. This is solid for a little EDF jet! We've put 4 up at a time doing formation flying. In a strong wind I've been able to throttle back and fly it backwards while climbing!Since then I've bought 3 more and given one to my brother as a gift.I keep one in my car at all times.”
“This jet is the best bang for your buck!!!Works just fine using 4cell 2200s with stock ESC and motor. I keep it WOT for up to 30 seconds no problem. With 3cell I've kept it wide open the whole flight.Flies very slow and stable without stalling. When you punch it, it's at full speed in seconds.Typing this review makes me want to order another one right now!!!You have to modify it to fit a 4cell pack. Come up with a way to hold it at the correct CG under the wooden tray. And if you plan to still use 3cell packs be sure you can still keep the 3cell ALL the way forward. If the 3cell isn't all the way forward it will be tail heavy.Enjoy!”
“This was my first EDF, and I purchased it because I heard it could fly nice and slow. Besides for $89, its a bargain. After reading how it tends to be tail heavy with the stock CG point, I 12ided to put mod the wood tray and put in a 3S 2200. The build was easy and everything went together well. This was the first plane I built that used glue primarily for assembly, but the included epoxy worked fine. Overall, the plane seems heavy for its size and I thought the wing loading was probably high. I set the rates pretty low because I heard it was really sensitive to input. Anyway, the maiden flight went perfect. It can fly slow like a warbird, but has a crazy roll rate and at full power pulls great with the stock motor. I can get plenty of height going straight up before it starts to stall - and when it stalls, it recovers easily. I got 5minutes out of the 2200 and had 33% left. The battery was just warm. The guys at the field were impressed at how easy this was to fly.”
“This is my first EDF and I was a little nervous about flying it but I want to get into EDF's so thought this inexpensive plane would be a good start. Well it is!! It is a great flying plane, not too fast for a first EDF but plenty of speed for fun flying. It handles great and has plenty of power for flying off a hard surface with the wheel kit added. I am very pleased with it and look foreward to many flights with it. Just be sure to set your CG correctly and you will have great flights with this plane. Thanks Motion for your service and great buys.”
“This is my third edf plane. I`ve been flying less than one year. Box arrived in western Arizona in four days. Everything in perfect shape. I fly from a paved runway,so I ordered the landing gear, which works great. No cg issues using an 1800 mah 3 cell 25-50c battery. Plane flys sweet! Not a speed demon, but loads of fun. Easy to see in the air. It got many favourable comments at the field. Takes off easily. To land, cut the power and glide it in. Well worth the money. Great service at Motion RC. I will order from them again.”
