I already made a review of this plane, but don't read that one. So now that I'm 50 flights and one crash in, there are some things to talk about. So use landing gear, as it has a nasty torque pitch when you hand launch it, and it gets off the ground really fast, but don't go crazy immediately or it will stall. Now it rolls great, and it has plenty of pitch, but it is a very underwhelming jet to be honest, on a 30c 3s 2200, it isn't that powerful, I'd use a 45-75c, it is plenty powerful on those batteries but it's no that powerful, now this plane in very durable however, when I crashed the plane, it broke very clean. if you absolutely wanted to, it could be your first EDF, but there are better options like the arrows viper or marlin. I'm not hating on this plane, it is very easy to fly, but if your experienced like me then maybe go for the 64mm f-22 it's just as easy to fly, and it's way more powerful. (also use a lot of expo on the ailerons)

The F9F Panther is my first EDF jet. I chose the Panther because of it's affordable price, size (a park flyer), it's good reviews (I read a ton of them as well as all the posts on HobbySquawk.com), it looks sharp, and because it was from MotionRC (I've purchased 3 other planes from MRC as well as parts, and I have been very pleased with their service and the speed of their delivery).I would judge my skill level to be between beginner and intermediate (I've been flying a little over a year). I've flown two trainers (Apprentice and AeroScout), and three 850mm warbirds (P-51, FW 190 Dora, and F4F Wildcat), a VisionAire, and a few micro planes. The manual is okay but not great. It leaves out any instructions on how to secure the control horns and cleaves, probably assuming anyone should know how. But I've never done that before and it took a while to figure out how to do it properly. As for the CG issue often discussed in the reviews and posts, I just used an Admiral 2200 mAh shoved into the nose (after cutting out a small piece of the battery tray) and had no problems. I did not fly with the optional landing gear. Finally, I'm not wild about the way the wings are glued together with epoxy. I would have preferred some kind of spar and a different way of putting the wings on. It just doesn't feel secure. I've had the Panther a little over two weeks but have only been able to make two flights so far. I will say that both flights went well. I set the rates pretty low and flew on 30% expo which helped with a smooth flight. I had a friend hand-toss the plane and that worked pretty well. Unfortunately, I also tried to hand-toss it myself and it didn't work, though there was no damage. I will have to figure that one out over time so I can fly it by myself when I want to. The belly landings were a breeze and I was a bit surprised at how well it glided on approach. Definitely need to give her more distance when bringing her in for a landing. All in all, I am very happy with this little jet and can say without reservation, that I am glad I bought it! I look forward to getting it in the air again soon!

The plane is built well, However, the motor is not great for at least what I received. The thing is underpowered. The nose landing gear is weak and will break easily.

The F9F is a really fun little package, and the price point is perfect for trying out EDF flying on a small scale. I took advantage of the many comments here and available youtube videos regarding CG, ESC upgrade, 4S power, battery all the way forward, etc. etc. I had an Eagle A3-L gyro sitting around so I put that in and set it up with variable gain control on a Tx knob. I am delighted by how well this flies, looks and sounds - it flies rock solid, responsive to commands, goes fast, slows down and glides easily (esp. for landing), and gets around nicely at just over 1/2 throttle with 4S once airborne. The color scheme is great for such small and fast plane. Hand launching is not my specialty, the F9F is a bit awkward to hold and throw, but with the 4s power available it is not that difficult. Big thumbs up on this, I'm tempted to pick up a 2nd for just in case or alternate paint scheme.
