Freewing Stinger Red 64mm EDF Jet - PNP Reviews

4.6 Rating 81 Reviews
This is my first edf jet and all I can say is WOW! I have been flying planes for 5 months, It is always windy in Hawaii so most of my planes I use a lemon 7 channel RX with stabilizer and it works good. The stinger 64 3 cell edf sport jet is a great entry point if you want an exciting highly maneuverable plane.Skip

As per usual with Motion RC, the plane arrived in perfect condition, on time, and, as it is just above the $99 threshold, shipping was free.My first flight was a tad sketchy because of the aileron deflection and CG on my set up. As there are no tips on dual rate set up in the manual I thought I would share what I found to work nicely for a newbie to EDF jets.I dialed my low rates for the ailerons all the way down to 40% deflection and 40 expo on my Dx8. The roll rate is still fast, even with the ailerons dialed that far back, but much more managable. I would recommend this set up for your 1st flight as you are trimming the plane out and getting a feel for it, especially if this is your 1st EDF. You can pretty much set the elevator and rudder to whatever you want, because in my experience, too much throw in the ailerons is generally what gets you in trouble. Also, I am running the HK Nano-tech 1800 battery. With no ballast weight and the battery pushed as far forward in the nose as possible it was still a little tail heavy. I put 1/2 a gram of ballast weight in the nose and moved the battery about 1/2 a centimeter back and it balanced out perfectly. I imagine if you did 1/4 gram ballast and pushed the battery all the way forward it would work fine, but I have not tried this.I would definitely not recommend this as a 1st plane because of the speed and agility of the model, but once you are comfortable flying it is definitely a good 1st EDF.Overall, great plane for the value, especially considering that of EDFs this size and price, it appears to be one of the few models on the market with full 4 channel control as opposed to bank-and-yank with models with a fixed rudder.

the plane arrived in perfect condition and went together in less time than it takes to charge the battery...flies pretty good for a stock set up...the only problem i had was NOT with the plane it was one of the two batteries i ordered to go with it...altho they sent a note inside saying the batteries were check im kinda doubting that they were...as one of the packs i ordered still wont charge very well..has a bad cell in it and the only way to get it to charge was NOT to hook up the balance plug for the first ten min of charge so that the cell would reach a voltage high enough to actually let the charger charge it...i didnt even bother to contact motion rc about it because frankly i didnt care...it was only 20 bucks and 20 bucks aint gonna make or break me.....with that being said...will it keep me from ordering more from motion rc?? NO it will NOT...things happen and it didnt bother me at all...they still sell great products and im sure if i had bothered to contact them they would have taken care of it...it just wasnt that big of a deal to me....they had fast shipping and everything got here in a timely fashion...enough said.....thanks MRC :-)

This is my first EDF and my first purchase from Motion RC. I mainly fly 450 and 550 helicopters along with .60 and .90 size airplanes. I wanted a smaller hand launch plane to just fool around with and for the price the Stinger 64 EDF was worth the risk of something new. Wow! this little plane is something else; great quality, easy build and a blast to fly. It has been a subject of interest at my RC club with other members being impressed with the stable flight. Also, I had read very positive reviews of Motion RC and I have not been disappointed. I plan to purchase more planes and supplies from Motion RC in the near future.

First Jet for me. Took about 20 minutes to put together. Rushed to the field and threw it in the air (didn't even check the CG) used an 1800 ma bat. This is a blast!!Just a touch of up elevator trim and she was zooming around. WOW is it fast !!!

I got my order today, only 4 days after placing it. Great job! The assembly went smooth after first testing out all of the electronics. Everything fits well and no surprises. It even balances right on the marks with 2200mah packs I intend to use. Great product and great service.

This is a great little jet, very easy to put together & fly. It would be nice if they give you some Hi & Low Rates in the manual. Lost one star for that, Motion RC seems to be on the ball very fast & free shipping THANKS!
