“This is probably the most fun you can have for less then a hundo...the stinger 64 is just a super little 64mm edf..wish it had just a little more power for those hand launches, butonce you get the hang of it its super stable.i liked the airframe so much that I just had to buy the high performance version.only other issue is the wing mount screw holes....they will strip out or crack .the way to get past this is to saturate the holes with c.a and then mount the wing.all in all I like the jet a lot.what a great way to bring edf flight tothe average guy, and to the sport of r.c.good job freewing!!!!!!great job motion rc.on time, on prices, to bad you dont have a place out here in cali..........”
“I recently purchased this from Motion and love it. While it is a good first EDF jet it's NOT a good 2nd plane for those coming off of flying a hi-wing trainer, it's easy to fly but with the short wings it has a fast roll rate especially on high rates so I recommend some time on a low wing prop sport plane-something with a little dihedral.Hand launches are easy but I found using the molded finger holds on the bottom because when the throttle Is applied the nose wants to pitch down so these indentations are placed to minimize this. I recommend having someone else throw the jet for the first flight so that you have control until it's trimmed out, then you can launch yourself, just advance throttle to full and a firm toss into the wind with an upward angle (not too steep, not near 45 degrees )and she flies away, in light winds will fly off with wings level.Tough as nails. My first launch myself was done by holding the jet behind the wings (BAD IDEA!) the downward pitch caused by the thrust and my holding well behind the CG point caused it to descend and it the ground breaking off the nose behind the plastic cone. No problem rechecked for proper operation, structural damage and relaunched flew fine even with a broken nose. So the takeaway is use the finger holds for launch, they are placed right at the CG and I had no problem launching.I fly with a 3s 2200 pack fully forward and cg is spot on.She also survived a crash, this is a light model so strong breezes will move her around. I was flying laps when I got a little far out and the sun angle rendered it a silhouette I thought the wind rocked it to the right when it actually rocked to the left so when I went to turn she rolled over and when I applied elevator for the turn she dove straight into the ground (all while I was making a landing approach so I was low) and cartwheeled as I saw parts fly off and thought she was done. But NO! only the nose broke off again, canopy popped off, lost a gear cover, and linkage fairing, NO damage to the wing, tail or electronics, glued the nose on and good to go!So I recommend this jet for a first jet since it's strong, easy to fly, and parts are inexpensive and Motion has them in stock.”
“This is my 1st EDF Jet and it is everything you would want in a easy to build....easy to fly 1st EDF Jet. It is VERY easy to hand lanuch....and flies like it is on rails. I use both the 1800 3S battery (all the way forward) and the 2200 3S battery (just move it back a little) and it flies GREAT!! It required NO trimming right out of the box.... I'm very happy with the plane and with Motion RC....”
“I really couldn't be more happy with this simple jet. A well behaved flyer with no unexpected tendencies. 4300kv, 65A ESC, and a few 4S 2200 65-130s keeps me happy with plenty of power and speed of more than 100mph! CG was not an issue as this beast also flies slow and low with its attitude in a slight high alpha within a foot off the 12k. Knife Edge flight at WOT just looks beautiful combined with rolls, loops, and snaps putting together some basic pattern aerobatics making this Stinger 64 Sport Jet one of my favorite everyday flyers. This one will never see 'hanger rash' that's for sure! Big kudos to Motion RC for a high quality and inexpensive model!”
“I bought the 3s version...despite my buddies telling to get the upgrade. I spoke with Motion RC Alpha and we discussed which would be best for me. With the recommended 1600 ma 3s battery, the plane is pretty tail heavy. I added 1.5 oz nose weight and had a friend toss it for me (slightly nose-up) at WOT. It flew great. Stalls give you just a mushing of nose down and recovers nicely. I flew 3 minutes which left the battery with 19% left and the esc kinda toasty. Next, I tried a 2200 3s and took off 1 ounce of weight. It flew even better. My buddies were really surprised how well it flew on 3s. They had one a year ago and it barely flew with 3s. I will modify the location of the esc to be in the intake tunnel for better cooling airflow. Great plane and you will never get better service than Motion RC.”
“This EDF jet is so much fun, for the price the speed is great. If you are getting into jets this is what you should buy.I like it so much that i bought a Jetapult, no more hope to God he throws it right i took the equation out of launching it, l dont like the odds of every few handlaunches a crash. Thanks MotionRC.........this is a winner”
“This plane is a great one for first timers to EDF's. flies true with no bad tendencies, flies great at half throttle, or rips around like on rails if you nail it! I put the gear on it. On grass it takes some space to get it off the ground, make sure you have plenty of speed before you get on the stick. Hand launches are a breeze, as well, and landings are simple, and slower than I thought they would be! Great plane for the money, AND THE SERVICE IS FANDAMNTASTIC! Thanx MotionRC!”
