Freewing Stinger Blue 64mm EDF Jet - PNP Reviews

4.8 Rating 49 Reviews
Range check, CG check, fail safe check, taxi check complete. ~6mph wind down the runway. Rotated after about 60' of gradual throttle. Climbed to three mistakes high while trimming. It was a handful but got safely on the ground with a nice three point landing. Got some tweaking to do.She has a lot of potential!!!

As usual, MRC shipped my order very quickly and in perfect condition. An added touch was a handwritten note saying my lipos had been tested and thank you! The Freewing 64mm 3s Stinger is a simple ARF requiring minimal assembly. Everything fit well and none of the parts were missing.....both not something you can assume with other planes. The manual is typical Chi-Eng that is more entertaining than helpful. I took my time assembling it over several nights largely because I bought the fixed gear and the Park Plastics mod kit. The only note of caution...when bolting the main wing to the fuselage be careful not to over tighten the two rear bolts. Doing this slightly compresses the duct around the fan causing the fan to hit it. I backed out the bolts a full turn and it worked fine. With my placement of the ECS and the plastic wing tip guards installed, my Stinger is just behind the 70mm mark with a 3s/2200. I'll have to add nose weight if I use the 1800s I bought with the plane. That being said...I haven't flown it yet so we'll see where it likes to fly. Maiden pends clear weather. I'll report again later.

Now that I got the complainers off my chest I should tell you a few good things about this plane. Seriously if you can through a football then you can hand launch this plane, just give it 3/4 throttle point the nose up 30 degrees and push it forward. Don't go crazy and twist your hand just an easy push will do it. I have my rates as follows; Ailerons 40% low 60% high, Elevators 100% for both, Rudder 100% for both. I have 35% expo on everything. This plane also makes this really cool howl when it comes by you out of a dive. Honestly this should be everyone's first EDF plane because it will fly fast and fly slow. It looks great and goes together in 30 minutes or less.

Well of all the planes that I have this one has to be one of the best little Jets I ever got a hold of . I put A Don's wicked 4S EDF set up in it and it couldn't fly any better. Absolutely no trim was necessary it and tosses very easily and it has a killer flight envelope. Anybody who complains about this plane shouldn't be allowed to buy any more RC airplanes in their life , and should stick to doing plastic models like we did when we were kids . Every time I read a review where somebody out there complains about these airplanes should just shut up and learn how to fly . I can't imagine the crap that the poor customer service people must go through with some of you people out there . And then you have the stupidity to actually put it in writing in some of these reviews . Anyways thank you guys at Motion RC Matt , Michael , Brad , Wayne , Alpha, you really are the best and I appreciate every time I get to talk to one of you
