“This is my first EDF (and first Freewing model) and I am impressed. The quality of this kit and the ease of assembly are great. 9 screws hold it all together. Fit and finish are beautiful. I had to do some minor rearranging of the innards to fit everything into the fuse but it was mostly just pushing the ESC further back. I am flying with a 3S 2200 pushed all the way forward and the model balances and flies perfectly.I was apprehensive about flying this airplane but she is a breeze. Generally I would say that the Stinger 64 flies like any other intermediate sport airplane. It just flies faster. It does however have a good speed range and will slow down for landing. However, as it is so “clean†it does not slow down quickly and tends to float for a while. You really have to drag her in on a long flat final. She does land at a somewhat higher airspeed than other sport planes but she is predictable and should not present a problem for a good pilot. The hand launch is pretty easy. I launch mine with a firmer toss (than a typical prop plane) with a slight nose up attitude at full throttle and she is fine. You do NOT have to strong arm this airplane into the air. Once airborne she is very well behaved and what I like to refer to as an “honest†airplane. That is, she is predictable and somewhat forgiving. Again…she flies well…just faster than a typical sport plane. As usual Motion RC and their service is among the very best. This is currently the only EDF I have flown but I can say if you are a pilot with good intermediate skills the Stinger 64 will introduce you to the incredible world of EDFs quite well.Next up…The Freewing 70mm Rebel!”
“This was my 2nd 64mm jet the Panther being the first and I have to say I love it. I found the CG closer to 80 mm. I love the flying characteristics and the extremely smooth turns this jet displays more than the Panther but both are great jets and a blast to fly. Love this Hobby! Thank you Motion. Semper Fi!”
“I purchased two of these. One for my son and one for me. These jets are easy to hand launch, fly on a rail, and zip right along. We even had a dog fight trying to hit one another, lucky we didn't. Great deal for the price. I use a zippy 2400 compact and get 8 minute flight times.”
“this is the first edf that I have ever bought or flown. after the first flight I had to adjust my cg back a bit and then left the ground with a bat that was not fully charged and crashed. Motion was quick it getting my new fuse to me and it flys great with a 2200 or a 1400, the two bats that I had on hand, with the cg about 10mm behind the 70 they call out. Great plane and even better service from Motion RC”
“This little EDF was very inexpensive, and goes together with 9 small screws. Everything fits just right, the foam is surprisingly durable! I am flying it on a larger 2200 3S, so the plane will not float in. The landings are very fast, but I can get 5 minutes on the batteries with ease. Even with the large battery, this thing has some pretty impressive vertical. Very large loops are done without fear of it falling outWhen setting up control surfaces, be aware that the ailerons have lots of authority, as well as the rudder (lots of coupling in the rudder), but once you have your expo and dual rates set up you will be comfortable by your second flight. It tracks very well at speed.Inverted needs some elevator compensation because I am flying a bit nose heavy, but it does well.My only complaint is the clevis'. The ones on the aileron's have both popped off multiple times. The first time I did not notice, and I threw it with no ailerons. It hit hard. I picked it up, bent the nose back straight, hooked up the ailerons and tossed it again.Overall, I am very very happy with this aircraft! I'm sure that I will fly this thing until I have a box of packing peanuts. Thanks Motion RC, you will be getting more of my business!”
“The Stinger 64 EDF has awesome quality for the money spent to purchase the jet. It was extremely easy to assemble. I replaced the stock motor with 3300kv Dr. Mad Thrust 10 Blade Aluminum housing setup and powered the unit on a 4s 65c 2200mah battery with a 80amp ESC. This plane is EXTREMELY FAST using this setup. Even with the added weight of the EDF unit and the 4s battery, the plane's Center-of-gravity was spot on. I did need to sand the battery compartment down to make room for the larger battery. Overall... I fantastic purchase.”
“Thus 64 mm edf is best in hand launch classIt is fast and at the same time it's glide ratio is fantastic. My stinger is blue color which make it look special out of regular red color jetsNo glue used any where and every thing fitted amazingly. In less than 45 min - my jet was ready to go and hit the skiesGreat jet and you won't go wrong with itThanks motionrc folks for helping the hobby with great products and free shipping :)”
“It is simple Awesome.I used 2200 Zippy 40 C 3S lipos on it and maiden was amazing,This little thingy flies as if it is on rails. Extremely docile and best edf jet I have. No bad tendencies and I set up 40% expo and 30% diff on my ailerons and elevator channels.Overall amazing experience and it is laudable edf on the airfield today.Amazing plane.ThanksRamesh”
