“I bought this, then shortly after the thunderchief and P.15, reviewed the thunderchief, which is fab too, although reviews criticize it being under powered, it's not in the air, with a hard throw and using a lighter battery (1300/75c) I haven't any trouble. But the crusader is the easiest to hand launch out of the three. None are easy models to fly, says "intermediate".. I think it's the upper end of intermediate, or advanced intermediate as they call it. They are my favorite models to fly ATM and I can't see that buzz going anywhere! I really really enjoy flying these! I have so much pleasure in these I can't rate highly enough. MotionRC are proving the go-to-place for quality, value and service. I'm hope them all every success. Anyway.. Get the crusader, it's impossible to be disappointed. If anyone at motion reads this.. I'm waiting for the next! Maybe an RAF, TORNADO OR HARRIER. Please hurry up Great job. Thank you.”

“As always when opening a Freewing box quality hits you straight away from the packaging, to product and service. This is my first 64mm EDF from Freewing purchased as a winter fun model. I expected the usual good avionics and performance straight from the box but thought a 64mm would loose that scale quality looks. I was wrong the scale detail is as good as any of my 90mm Freewing EDF's, paint finish second to none and over all quality the best on the market. I put the F8 together and set throws up as per the book but put 50% expo across all surfaces. The CG was set as per Freewing's suggestion leaving my 3S 2200mah Admiral lipo as far back as possible with the nose slowly dropping when set on the CG rig. The maiden flight was in near perfect condition, a fellow modeler helped with launching for the maiden. The F8 was launched perfectly, good speed and slightly nose up. I am glad this was not a self launch because the F8 left his hand with good speed but went straight into a nose dive. With the elevator stick in full up position the F8 flew out inches from the ground. Leaving here to climb to a safe altitude where up trim could be added, (that is all the trim I could dial in) and level flight was achieved. The F8 tended to drop here nose in the turns indicating a nose heavy model. For the second flight I wound out the clevises on the elevators and ailerons to give the same surface positions that was on after landing but the elevator trim at 0. Once again the F8 dived on launch but not as vicious this time and no trim needed once the model gained momentum. The nose still dropped slightly in the turns so I decided another 5g (15g total) should be added to the very end of the Fuselage. Light was too bad now so the third flight would have to weight. The start setting on a two way switch gave me an extra 3mm of up on all surfaces for the launch phase which would be switched out at a safe height. The extra 5g of lead sat the F8 perfectly horizontal on the CG rig. Another perfect day dawned and it was time for the 3rd flight. The Crusader was launched perfectly again but the death dive ensued once again, Fighting with the controls I managed to flick the start switched to drop the up elevons, this helped but I was now fighting with a very sensitive roll control now. It was hairy but I managed to go through the circuit but then disaster turning into wind. The F8 tipped stalled into an unrecoverable spin and a devastating ending. I feel a gyro is needed in this plane but for me another £120 is not worth another go. Don't get me wrong this is a wonderful plane of which I had tremendous fun with once past the initial launch issues faced in the first two flights but I have decided to order the 64mm Stinger instead.”

“First of all, I am impressed with the amount of detail moulded into this plane, especially for the money. The detail is amazing. I very much enjoy this plane and did not expect it to be as stable or fly as well as it does. It is rock solid. I am surprised at how small of an area you can fly this in if you are a somewhat experienced pilot. I do hand launch it with a slight mix of up elevator, but turn that off once it has spooled up fully. I like it so much that I ordered both the Thunderchief and Lippisch. I will eventually add the Mig 15 and Sabre as well. I only wish that it was cheaper to ship to Canada.”

“I purchased one used, only had one flight on it, from another person. He had not modded it and it did not have the landing gear/ wheels. This was the second purchase of a Freewing 64mm EDF, the first being the F105 and followed up with the Mig 15 and F9f.The F8 flies and hand lauches similar to the F105. When hand launching it will rapidly sink so be ready for up elevator after release. She cruises just fine, but I have found that the F8 will rock and wiggle more than the F105 in the same wind, possibly due to a combination of more surface area on the rudder and or ventral fins. The color scheme is fabulous but will quickly blend into gray or white skies, with the black on the rudder and nose helping orientation under those conditions.I find the Crusader a very nice flyer, with the noted wing rock, and I especially like the carbon fiber on the control rods. I would say that would be a good thing for Freewing to do to all of their 64mm EDFs.”

“I was looking forward to this kit, love the attention to detail but hate that I have to order the landing gear as a seperate item. Instructions not easy to read, plus this plane is not for a beginner either. Looking forward to getting this in the air, but it is a great plane for the price”
