Freewing Mirage 2000C V2 High Performance 80mm EDF Jet - PNP Reviews

4.7 Rating 128 Reviews
This is my third Motion RC EDF purchase. I started with the Rebel, moved up to the 70mm Yak-130 and now have the Mirage 2000C V2. This unit went together easy enough and I only had a an issue with one main shock absorbing strut requiring a shim to make it align correctly. After getting the aileron throws dialed way down the plane flew great (using Gyro on low gain). It's actually easier to land than the Yak since it will slow down on a high AOA landing. Flying at 5000' ASL using 4500mah Floureon batteries. Love this plane and how it gets a load of compliments when its being flown.

The airplane went together very quickly. I did install an Eagle 6 gyro. I did set the low rate for the ailerons to 7mm until I get used to the model a bit more. What a fun plane to fly. Take of is of course easy, this beast has a lot of power. Landing is very nice once the throttle and up elevator are dialed in, it almost lands itself. The exciting part is when you are up and playing with the stunts, wow is this plane fun. From high Alpha on the edge of a stall all the way up to top speed is a matter of a couple of seconds. This plan has a real punch on the throttle. It’s very enjoyable too. I don’t really notice a change in nose attitude from no throttle to full throttle. The only nit i have is that the water slide decades have gaps at the see of the rudder, and the rudder to fuselage joint, but that’s all very minor. When it’s flying it’s amazing and orientation with the plane is very simple with this paint scheme.

Great look and flying characteristics. Canopy always falling off on grass take off and in the air. This is because the front of fuse is way too flexible allowing canopy to come loose and fall off. Other than that a great little jet. An inrunner would have probably been a better combination. Also can we get next version with thrust vectoring, can not hover properly with out it.

My friend performed the Maiden setup and flights. Ailerons are quite sensitive and elevator function is fine. Tried the gyro and it needs to have the gain turned down. Assembly is uncomplicated and the Mirage 2000C V2 Tiger Meet is finished nicely and the landing gear is first class. Very happy with this purchase. Awesome 80 mm jet. Quality is the new standard we exspect from freewing these days. Having the both versions with the orginal rocket fast, V2 will not disappoint you. New Tiger Meet color scheme definitely easier to see. Motion support is above the gold standard and in my opinion leading the industry. You will enjoy punching holes in the sky with this one, enjoy.

This is a great upgrade. It’s very fast but stable. I’m flying without a gyro and not having any trouble. It does land fast, so still working on the high alpha approaches. Great job in the poweplant upgrade and paint scheme.

I love this plane, flys excellent and will do incredible maneuvers. I can get 4 minutes on an Admiral 6S 4000 pro. I added the 3D printed cockpit and nozzle which are very detailed. I also added the RCGeek's center afterburner, check out www.tiredironaviation.com for more pictures and video.

This is my second Freewing Mirage 2000. Both are excellent fliers, and this "Tiger" is even better! The Tiger Meet livery made it a "must have" for me. The loose part of the Tiger decal can be tacked back down to the fuselage with a covering iron (remember them?) at low setting. Do not set the throws according to the manual! Just like the video, even an expert pilot cannot not keep up with the fast roll rate! Follow the discussion/presentation on the RC Geek website by Chris Wolfe for Mirage 2000. I inset the servos side of the throw at just below the surface of the wing (3 holes in, so need to make a slight slot at the exit near the wing for the clevis rod) and have the servos still set at 100% travel. With my high rate at 50%, 25% expo and low rate at 30%, 15% expo, I achieved the recommend throw accord to RC Geek of 1/4" for the high rate. I can fly this Mirage easily at low rate without needing a gyro. (There are no gyros in my Mirages.) I set the high rate for elevator at 115% to achieve the discussed 5/8" throw and achieved fantastic loops. The contrasting color of the fuselage top really help with orientation, especially during the maiden, and flying with the wing tanks also helps a lot with the orientation while slows down the airplane. If there is minimal headwind, prepare for a LONG, flat landing approach. Seems to fly better with CG at 1/2" in front of the front-most of the recommended CG setting. I inset a 1 1/2 size lead Water Gremlin egg sinker into the undercarriage just below the rudder and two 1/8 lead eggs into the end of the nozzle cone to achieve closes to the recommend CG using Admiral Pro 4000 mAh, 60c lipos for power. Cannot wait to fly with the tanks off to maximize the potential of this beautiful bird. Thank you MotionRC for this wonderful plane!
