“This F-15 gives you the real experience of a fighter jet!After having a great experience with my Freewing F-86, I started looking at the Freewing F-15. I watched the flight videos and reviews online, and got hooked. When the box came, I felt like a kid at Christmas! The scale details on this baby are awesome! And it had all the quality that I expected, which was high, based on my experience with the F-86. I think there are a lot of reviews about the build and quality, so I want to talk about flying this airplane. It is not for beginner pilots, and you should probably rate yourself as a really good intermediate pilot if you want to have fun with this airplane. Because of it's inherent design characteristics, this plane does not really “glide†at all. Without power, it will slow down and drop out of the sky. While this is something you need to be concerned about when flying the airplane, it is also a great feature on take-offs and landings. This plane tracks so nicely on the ground during both, and on landings, once the wheels touchdown, this plane will never hop off the ground again. I see this as quite a positive feature. And by the way, the landing gear are very substantial which makes ground handling very precise. So the bottom line is that you have to fly it with power, and you definitely have to fly way ahead of the plane. Once you understand the flight characteristics of this airplane, it is an absolute blast to fly. Full speed passes right down on the deck makes your hair stand up. I like doing BIG maneuvers with this airplane. Large open barrel roll attacks and lag rolls are really fun! One thing is for sure, everyone on the flight line will be watching this airplane fly, so be sure you are okay with an “audienceâ€. If not, then make sure you do your first few flights when no one is at the field. And finally, I have not had any mechanical issues or problems with this plane. The engine has lots of power, and all of the systems (landing gear, air brake) and control surfaces work perfectly. My next step is to do some fancy radio mixing so that I can fly with elevons only, or incorporate the ailerons and elevators to work in conjunction with each other. Should be interesting. If you want a plane that will excite you, then this is your baby!!!”
“I've loved the F-15 since I was a kid and had to have this beauty. This is definitely the most scale foamy I've ever had and it looks amazing in the air. Awesome, both the sight and the sound. Stable flyer with no issues except power; power is the only reason I give it four stars. It's extremely heavy for a foamy. With a new Turnigy 50-90C 5000mAh I was barely able to do a simple pattern, least of all aerobatics. I bought the Admiral battery used in the video and that made a HUGE difference. It's smaller, lighter, and has higher gauge wires (thinner). With that battery it performed MUCH better! Still a little underpowered but way better than with the Turnigy. I'd recommend this bird to anyone - just make sure you put a decent battery in it.”
“Figured I'd give an updated review of this beautiful bird. Last two flight attempts have failed miserably. Preflight checks were fine on each, however full power takeoffs have obviously over-tasked the electrical causing brownouts. Crashed due to RSSI loss (Only 400 ft away! (Batteries on both aircraft and radio were at full) Ground range test completed on both attempts. She crashed in soft dirt and probably could be repaired, but shes too pretty to patch so I ordered a new fuse. I'm not confident in the Freewing BECs and will either put a Castle in or run a RX batt to handle the load. This bird was one of my best flyers, so I'm disappointed in the short life span of the electronics, but I haven't given up. I'll be proactive and upgrade all my $500 class Freewings; i.e. T-45, F-16 etc. Hope this helps. MG”
“Assembly was quick. looks fantastic . I had a bit of trouble getting speed brake to deploy at flap setting. Also I had to adjust magnets on the nose cone not mating. My mistake at the maiden. I should have done it off asphalt. Grass field was ok but found the nose gear strut is a bit weak. Well after a heart pounding first flight, all I can say is holy S***t. I did not expect that kind of flight performance. Even off the grass this thing got up and going fast. NO TRIM needed. Follow balance and manual and you will be rewarded. It's fast so keep it close as it gets out of sight quick. The sound is Great also, but I am going to ad the whistles like the new build video shows. I'm totally blown away with this plane. Landings are a breeze and the gear handles my grass field like a champ. Flight times are short but exhilarating! She's a keeper!”
“With the purchase of F-15 thru Motion RC and during the build of the model I found that the air brake controller was not working. I let the support unit at motion rc know about the problem. After some trouble shooting and responding to there request a new air brake controller was mailed the same day. But what is even better is to get a phone call from Motion RC to make sure all went well. Thanks Motion RC for a great job in getting all of this complete. Thanks again.”
“Great plane! A lot of improvements from previous FW models - I think MotionRC listens to their customers and passes it on the manufacturers. The landing gear is awesome with great plastic pockets and great detail on the gear. One area that could use improvement is the landing gear drive housing - this should be metal not plastic.A lot of great detail but short flight times. If Motion could sell a 6S, 6,000mah HV, 70C battery for under $150, I would buy them all day. I would like to get 5 minute flights.This airplane is the new standard by which all EDF airplanes should fly - it's a keeper. If you're going to buy a big EDF, this is the one that will give you many flights and ease of handling. Outstanding job Motion - keep up the great customer service!”
