“I purchased the gray version of this F/A--18C around 4-5 months back. I swapped out the stock ESC yesterday and added dual 4S 30C 4000MAH lipo' s in series using an 8S 120 amp capable ESC. This ESC may be on the light side for amp draw, but I used it with the stock motor/fan combination that comes with this plane and it worked fine with mixed throttle. The stock motor seemed to hold up just fine from what I could see. I'm from MN and temps were in the 20 degree range, so this may have helped to keep the motor cooler than normal. Only time will tell if it will hold up, but I plan to keep flying it this way. I didn't radar gun the new setup, but I would guess it may have added a 15-20 mph increase in straight line speed over the stock setup. It was noticeably faster. Dual 4S 4000 MAH is almost identical in weight to a single 6S 5000 MAH, so COG and balance point were identical making it a pretty simple upgrade overall. Just the swap of the new 8S capable ESC was the only change with the new lipos. Will try to update if the stock motor holds over time. Again, I used mixed throttle with multiple high speed passes for the first flight.”

“Great looking plane. Easy and quick to assemble. Not flown yet because of winter weather. A few cautions. The notice to remove the elevator servos to check for wire insulation damage can actually result in damage to the wire insulation because of the tight fit of the servos in the plastic supports. A redesign of the elevator servo mount is recommended. Also, the rudder servo connectors should be better protected to prevent spray paint from entering the connectors.”

“I love this jet , I got it PNP . I haven't took it out for that workout' because it's gotten cold out an I don't want to rush it anyway because im going to want afew days to play with it to see what all I need to do to fit my style of flying .bso she's setting an waiting on me ...so again Thank you guy very much . “This plane is great! I was concerned about how much power it would have being a 6s 90mm. I am used to my 8s 90mm F22. But, it has plenty of power and flies like it is on rails. No stabilizer in mine and 2 clicks of trim is all it needed on the maiden. Awesome plane for sure!”
“plane is very nice to fly. I recommend upgrading elevator servos to metal gear ones and changing the elevator linkage. I used 2-56 dubro ball connectors and a soldered clevis on servo end. So far working great. Also make sure the elevator shafts are glued really well. TSB on this under customer support. Great flying and easy to land.”
