“This is is my 5 th 90 mm EDF and It's a beauty. Flew it this morning for the 3rd time, looks great on the ground and in the air. I'm using the stock setup with the Admiral 5100mah 70c battery which is fine except I got 3 minutes at mostly 1/2 throttle and after checking the battery I only had 10 % left, that equates to 3.68 volts per cell. Too low! I'm now going to use 6000mah batteries so I can get at least 3 minutes without draining the battery too much. It's not super fast but it's fast enough and looks fantastic going past right on the deck. Landings are a little tricky, with flaps it slows down nicely but be careful not to pitch up . I used 40 % exponential on elevator. Appearance wise it comes out of the box with a very flat finish, so I put on 2 coats of minwax poly with a foam brush then 1 coat of Krylon clear gloss spray foam safe. I also replaced the screws holding the elevator bearing blocks with much longer ones glued down into the foam securely as to eliminate any issues like some of the first ones had . I don't think glue alone is enough in this area. All in all, this jet is a winner for anyone who has some flight time with an Avanti or similar sport jet or any of the 90 mm military jets.”

“When you first open the box the size of this thing slaps you in the face, very nice. Easy to build, manual needs fixed in several areas. Elevator servos went nuts a week or so later and were replaced free of charge. The yellow paint on it was not good at all, very sloppy and all over the place. Beacon light was also half covered in yellow paint. I've since went and had paint matched and fixed all the yellow and blue with yellow overspray. Next thing regarding finish is the flat/satin finish, they should have made this jet a higher gloss to really make it pop. Also the intakes were blue, drove me nuts so I painted them white, much better. Engine exaust nozzles also got some airbrush love that it needed. The plastic intakes were poorly installed and mis-aligned. There is an annoying dent on the wing root glove area, it's an eye magnet. There was just an overwhelming amount of cosmetic issues and some mechanical problems. So if your willing to put some time into it, you can get them to acceptable level. Motion RC has good customer service and I really have no issue with them, just wish the quality watch dogs were on their A game.”

“I hesitated to purchase this EDF as the picture showed the F 18 to have an unusually long nose. It did not look scale and it lacked the decals. But after clicking on the F 18, I saw lots of detail. The maiden went well and I pretended I was flying a 64 mm EDF . A lot less stress when the airplanes are way less than 500.00 it flew just fine and there were no surprises in flight. My site is eldestguy on YouTube. I am very pleased with the EDF and with Motion RCI like the fact that 6 channels on a Tactic tx is all I needed to fly the big beautiful airplane”

“It's unbelievable, but Freewing continues to push boundaries in quality and performance while keeping the price very reasonable. The new F-18C pushed this boundary past what we got with the F-22. The build and setup is what you have come to expect from Freewing, quick and painless. The maiden was a blast, and I put 4 batteries through in no time at all.This model has great static thrust with the stock power plant, and as a result it gets off a grass field very comfortably and accelerates very scale-like into the sky. With a 5000mah 45c GensAce pack it has no lack for power, and gets a solid 3 1/2 minutes of throttle time.With the CG at factory recommended it tracks like a rocket, I also installed an AS3X receiver to help with wing wobble, but it isn't necessary. It is comfortable on approach, and with full flaps it lands very nicely and at a reasonable speed. Like most jets it needs a good amount of throttle with full flaps, so keep that in mind.Overall a great looking, flying and quality jet from Freewing. Need to make some space for Freewing's next 90mm release.”

“This is my 4th F-18 (3 Grey PNP’s), it feels like my first. I’ve always admired the Blue Angels and have seen many of their shows. So getting the BA version was a must, but I wanted to do some power sys testing first. She flies every bit as good as the greys, but looks much better doing it. If your thinking of getting this bird, stop waiting and just buy it, YOUR LOVE IT!”
