I just finished talking with MRC Tech Support about the following issues1. After checking for the Stab mounting plate being securely attached on my model, I still had some play in the Stab. The bearing pockets also had excessive play requiring shimming within the bearing pocket. See MRC Help tab, then RC Knowledge Blog, then Loose Bearing Pocket Fix2. ESC was not connected to EDF. Both were individually mounted correctly. See attached photo3. The correct initial stab setting is 7mm below the fuselage mold crease line and the leading edge of the stab. 4 For future scale detail customers, the model paint is flat. I believe MinWax is a shiny coat solution. The intake interiors are Blue not White. And finally, the pilot's uniform is green with a black visor. I painted the uniform blue and the visor white with a clear yellow over coat to get the cool Blue Angel visor effectI hope this helps you get your beautiful F-18 into the air and keep the Blue side up

When this one first came out I thought I have to have it. I struggled with this one and another very popular jet from one of the big competitors. I have owned and flew and still have several 70mm and 80mm EDFs and have been concerned with the power to weight of the 90mm jets. We'll let me tell you that this bird has really good power and she flies so well. I was fortunate to have the bulletin come out about the elevator rod plate and the servo pocket cutting the wires. I checked things out on the bench and It initially and things looked like all may be good even though the wires looked the slightest bit pinched. When I got to the field I had a jittery servo on the starboard side right before I was about to maiden. I parked her and had Motion send me new servos. I took her out the following weekend and just a couple of field go rounds and I was smiling very big. When I went to land her smiled even bigger; she floated right in and set on the mains so well. I now have only 4 flights on her but will have her out again this weekend for some more great flying. This is an absolutely fantastic bird.

Its an excellent flying plane, has good aerobatic performance. I didn't have any cut elevator servo wires, one servo plate was pulling up a little so I just popped both up an glued them down. I had an elevator servo start fluttering on the runway after 10 flights so I replaced both with hitec servos. Also had a flap servo fail in flight that almost did it in. It seemed underpowered, one flap came down full as normal the other only came down half way an started rocking it on its wings aggressively. The servo had no force to push any further. Everything else has been good. When it's all working properly it's my favorite over the f15, the f22, an fms bae hawk.

Excellent flying F-18. Easily visible compared to smaller Blue Angels. Flies as stated. I used Admiral 5000mAH 50c and get solid 3 minutes of fantastic flights. Only additional recommendation is to make the wing missiles rails detachable. The firmness of the rails will causes the drooping wing to auger in during an imperfect landing when a wing might tip into the runway. I broke the wing mounting tube this way, so I had to order in a new fuselage. The situation can easily be remedied by placing a set of rare earth magnets to hold in each rail, that will allow the rail to easily come off if struck during those imperfect landings. The posts for the screws will allow for on-the-mark mounting every time. I have flown the model on maximal speed and high-G maneuvers numerous times with this set up, and the rails never departed from the wing tip. There is plenty of cabin space for 6000 mAh battery, which I am planning to try, then this plane would beat the F-16 in flying duration. Unlike the Freewing 90 mm F-16, this F-18 controls does not become sluggish when the retracts are deployed. Also, plug in the retract directly into the receiver instead of into the multi-function control box, which delays the deployment of the retracts by almost 5 seconds, not needed with this model's spring-activated retract door system.

The model looks great, hopefully flys as well. 3 members at my club crashed on maiden flights. All seemed to lose control for no reason. All 3 had a stripped servo on the elevator. 2 were the right side, not sure of the third. Haven’t checked mine, but leery to use the stock servos. I’m waiting until I feel confident the issues are solved.

Despite the issues that a small percentage of these models had (refer to the Technical Service Bulletin on the product page's support tab), and yes, I was one of them that suffered a tragic crash not of my doing on the maiden and was reimbursed, this is my second one and after performing all the due diligence and checks...AWESOME!Such a gorgeous model...High scale fidelity and impressive flight performance. I just need to hit it with high gloss miniwax polycrylic and she's done. I love this jet!
