“Decal sheet was defective;decals lettering staying on backing, 2 decals glued together. Screws for fastening wing the wrong size. A foam piece (looks like a large intake manifold) but no instructions provided.”
“My first review was a 3 star which MotionRC didn't post for whatever reason. The reason for 3 stars was primarily due to a faulty retract which did not show up until the model was assembled. My bad as I should have checked all servos etc. before assembly but on the other hand one should expect everything should be functional on a new product. At any rate called Motion and they send a new replacement retract the same day. Took a bit to replace it without scaring the finish to much and happy to say it's all complete and looks super. So I've given it 4 stars primarily due to MotionRc's customer service, which is great. I would recommend this model to a friend.”
“I have finished my Spitfire today and except few minor things I am impressed with quality and look of the aircraft. Its really rising standard one level higher. The only minor things I did not like. 1) In the cockpit is a pilot, unfortunately was not glued properly and is lose. Means now he floats in the cockpit and I have to figure out how to fix it as canopy is not removable. 2) Would appreciate more info about HW, specially servos when I need to change them, how strong they should be etc. 3) Same for Battery, recommended Admiral might be great, but I don't have a possibility to buy it in our country. Can I use 4S with only 35C? Is 45 enough? Some batteries have 40C/80C. I have no idea whether Admiral's 50C is the max continues discharge or the max peak. So generally just little bit more detailed information would be nice. I am happy I have this remarkable plane, I think Freewing Spitfire is the most beatifull EPO Spit on the market! Had no problems at all during build, 99 percent :) excellent work!”
“We all know a Spit is a beautiful aircraft. This really does it justice. The lines are right and it flies as it should. Usually with a Spit this size the thickness of the required airfoil is obvious but not so with this. The foam is nice and dense, giving a good finish and the colors are quite accurate. Seams and mating surfaces perfect. The foam wheels make up for the solid landing gear even with a 4000 battery. The 4 blade prop was a pleasant surprise in that it balanced well immediately with no need of work. I use a gyro because it's so pretty I hate to scuff the wings. Not a first warbird even with a gyro as it's deceptively quick with narrow gear but fine as a second, good training for an ME 109 in that regard. Pilot is believably scale. Mine is actually faster than scale with the supplied prop. I don't need more than that but I imagine the speed kit is crazy fast. I would instantly buy an ME 109 for it to chase when FlightLine turns their hand to it.”
“Have flown mine a few times and love it. Elevator is touchy so be sure to mix in plenty of expo to soften those sudden pitches up or down. Soften the ailerons too until you get the feel of this bird. Flies really well on a calm today. Had problems though with this plane though in slightly gusty winds in the 7-10 mph range. Plane had a mind of its own. Got her down asap. Still in one piece! Takeoffs on well manicured grass is fine. Retracts seem to be hanging in there.....so far. Landings are a bit tricky since the wheelbase is so narrow on this plane. Am used to P-47s and 51s, which have nice, broad wheelbases. Gotta come in just right....a good challenge for me I guess. What impresses me the most though on this particular plane is the foam finish. MOTION RC should require all of their manufacturers to finish their planes as well as this Spit. Smooth as can be. Some guys at the field thought it as a monokote finish. Nice!! MRC....do them all like this. I'll pay an extra $20 to get this level of finish.Good plane. If you're a solid intermediate, get it. You'll love it.”
“Overall, this is one beautiful plane. The reason that I only gave it four stars is due to the fact that it arrived with a few minor - mostly cosmetic - deficiencies: the foam was slightly bubbled on one of the wings; one of the raised wing areas was either slightly melted prior to painting or the mould wasn't properly filled when manufacturing; the paint is already beginning to chip around the battery compartment; one of the wings was slightly warped above one of the flaps and the pilot was stuck to the dash of the cockpit, rather than his proper spot. Even with these issues, it is still a beautiful plane. And it flies beautifully. Take-offs are a non-issue. As has been mentioned, it has a low p-factor when compared to most of the other warbirds that I own. It also lands beautifully. I was little worried about the landing with the narrow Spitfire gear, but it settled in amazingly. As has been mentioned, bring a Spitfire it can be a little pitchy, but if you are aware of this and handle the sticks accordingly, it is a non-issue.This is the 3rd Flight Line product that I own and overall, they are great bang for the buck. I will be ordering my fourth soon.”
