FlightLine F7F-3 Tigercat 1600mm (63") Wingspan - PNP Reviews

4.8 Rating 191 Reviews
I'm giving it four stars based on the issues below but subject to change .I received this on Christmas as a gift from my wife. Couldn't wait to get this thing going. First thing you notice is the quality of the foam. Very tight and smooth finish. Excluding one portion of the starboard Nacile, everything in the finish was flawless. Build is straight forward and all of the components fit snug and no gaps or sloppy play. Wiring connections are very neat and simple... Now the downside... It looks amazing completed and sitting on my stand, where apparently it will stay for a while. The plane shipped without any prop blades, spinners or hub assemblies. The front landing gear doors were damaged during shipping and broke a small piece of the adjacent foam, which was an easy fix. And of course, the parts that I need are out of stock. Spoke with Mike today at MRC and he couldn't be more helpful. Customer service here is second to none and keeps bringing me back... I'll follow up with a flight review once she is airborne.... Hurry up flighline, I need to fly this thing it looks incredible.

WOW! What can I say about this plane. It truly is a great looking model. Nice smooth finish. Only a couple of blemishes around the nacelle mold, nothing that really sticks out. Assembly was a breeze. Love the quick connects for the wings electronics. I have about 12 flights on it so far, using 3300s and 4000s . Getting around 7-8 minute flights easy. with time to spare. Landings with this plane are a breeze, comes in nice and smooth. Id say the easiest warbird Ive ever flown. Would recommend this as a first warbird too. Only issue I had was the Cclip on one of the mains coming off on my second flight. Forgot to put some glue on them. Other than that..its a great purchase.

I am still going to give 5-stars although the flap push rods are too short and I could not get one of motors running. It only took one call to Motion and Matt sent the push rods out the same day, Motion's unparalleled customer service is hard to beat. The motor issue required some trouble shooting. The leads were wrongly labeled. After correcting, the motor worked fine. With the two battery set-up, I find the cabin a little cramped for the receiver and gyro. I am going to have to be creative here for a solution.

Received my . FlightLine F7F .Had one of my fellow club members help me with the build. Fantastic fit and finish. after everything was done I discovered the left motor sounded like a magnet was loose really loud .however I called Motion RC .And in typical class leading service they are sending me another motor. Very impressive. that's why they are my exclusive Dealer. they are the best......

This is by far the most impressive Flight Plane I have (4). Everything is crisp and wire connections are simple and neat. Unfortunately, after I bound it and tested the retracts, the first time I hit the switch, all three came down. When I retracted the nose gear didn't. So I brought the mains down again and up again. The nose didn't move but it began smoking profusely. Took a quick look inside to see a red glow in the servo. Unplugged batteries quickly and no damage done. As usual, Motion, being quick to respond, shipped replacement by late afternoon. Knowing them it will be here in short order.Connecting control rods was uneventful until getting to the flaps. Assuming the arms on the servos are where intended (and it's where I like them) the distance from the servo arm to the center of the ball on the horn is 83 mm for the outer flaps and 78 for the inner flaps. Given the rods provided (62mm) plus another 10mm or so for the connector, and allowing for enough thread to feel comfy, I can't connect any of the four flaps. Off to the hobby shop tomorrow.

so this is by far the fastest build with simple assembly i have yet found in a foam plane.hits:finish and fit were greatloved the sire harnessservos all set right from factory on horn positionmisses:the flap rods could be a bit longer some get to the end of the threads to make things flush and that was with using servo end point to the maxone main wheel hung on the gear door when closing had to stretch the spring a bit to allow door to close a bit later as wheel went inthe screw holes for the elevator would not line up exact so the screws have a bit of an angle to them but still secured wellhad to cut just a bit of the canopy front lip off to clear battery pack that did fit into the cavity perfect but canopy lip goes down into the battery area if left full. added a small carbon rod into the lip on the canopy to keep it strong.the counter rotating prop would not balance, 2 blades were pretty hvy and after much sanding on the back side of those 2 blades i resorted to adding a bit of super glue to the back tip of the lighter blade to get things in order.***note the build video here omits the 3 screws per prop hub that enter from the rear, dont forget to do this step prior to installing prop on plane.found to my surprise my gens ace blue label 5000ma 4s packs fit great with the lip mod above. i will get max time in the air now and can share the packs i use for my fms v8 mustang.........mine did come with deans plugs on the esc's im okay with that in a 4s plane but hope to see the 6s planes use ec5 plugs in the future.

This plane is hands down an all-around winner in my book and sets the bar for all the others to dream about. FlightLineRC has listened to what we the modelers want to see in their planes and have incorporated them into a beautiful flying, rarely modeled, highly sought after, iconic twin electric flying airplane…. The F7F-3 TigercatI am beyond simply impressed and thoroughly in awe with this plane, I feel privileged and honored to have been chosen to test pilot this aircraft.crxmanpat and I made the maiden flight with a pair of Admiral 4s 4000 mAh lipo's and a pair of Admiral 3600 pro mAh lipo's. We set all flight surfaces set to neutral and control throws set as per the included instruction manual…Initial flight timer was set to a conservative 5 minutes. Taxied out on the rough grass field, lined her up into the wind and gave her the throttles. She lifted off the tall grass gracefully and without even a hiccup. Only a few clicks of up elevator trim was needed to have her flying hands free and level, after which we proceeded to put her through her paces. With her big tall vertical stabilizer and rudder, she tracks like an arrow and low full speed presentation passes were a blast and sight to behold. In comparison to the recent release from FlightLineRC of the equal sized P-38 lightning…the F7F-3 Tiger Cat was much easier to fly and landings were a breeze. Pardon the “Pun”, but she fly's like a lady-cat, and displays a beautiful and graceful presence in the sky. With the pre-installed two 600kv motors she was not lacking in power in any way and easily was put through loops and rolls without even straining or wanting to fall out of the sky. We did most of our flight at ¾ throttle with the occasional WOT full speed presentation passes low and across the field. The Stall is very soft and straight forward on her nose with only an occasion or two of wanting to very softly drop a wing tip…She has a very easily recoverable stall behavior. After landing of a 4 ½ minute flight, the 4s Admiral 4000 mAh batteries were checked and still had 76% left in them. Flight times of 6 to 8 minutes could easily be achieved with reserves left over using these batteries, with a little throttle management. Since then I have flown her an additional 14 times and I prefer using 4000 mAh lipo's…for longer flight times. The Admiral Pro 3600 mAh lipo's are another great battery choice.Brandon Moon
